Talent show auditions begin
Got talent? Sisters Sunday
Showcase wants you.
<People in our commu-
nity have so many talents, but
often don9t have an opportu-
nity to share them beyond the
walls of their own homes,=
said Jennie Sharp.
Her theater camp,
Starshine, will present a classic
talent show on Sunday, June
16 at Sisters Farmers Market.
Jokes, dance, and music are
among the possible acts folks
might decide to share at the
Sisters Sunday Showcase tal-
ent show. Auditions take place
via video and are due June 1.
Dads, kids, and people of
all ages are invited to partici-
pate free of charge in this spe-
cial Father9s Day show.
<A public talent show can
empower kids and adults,=
said Sharp. <Everyone has
something fun to offer.=
Starshine will also present
an hour-long workshop just for
kids earlier that day, to prepare
something special for dads and
other marketgoers.
<We9ll jump right into pro-
ducing a mini-performance
that will open the talent show
later that afternoon,= said
Sharp.
Sharp is experienced with
helping kids develop their
own shows from the ground
up. Workshop participants will
<use their extremely creative
minds to come up with some-
thing silly, fun, and maybe
informative, too!= No experi-
ence is necessary.
Sharp has been putting on
shows since she was a child.
She went on to act, sing, and
dance in many performances,
in lead and support roles4and
teach in a variety of settings.
She studied art and forestry
at University of California at
Berkeley, and education at the
University of San Diego and
Portland State University.
She is excited to work on
the Fir Street Park stage for
the first time.
<The bandshell stage is
such a beautiful venue for
the Sisters Farmers Market,=
Sharp observed. <The bright
colors and fun people attend-
ing the farmers market pro-
vide great ambiance to show-
case the community9s talents
in farming, crafting, and
otherwise.=

tion of $5-$10 is requested.
Proceeds benefit the nonprofit
Sisters Farmers Market.
If there is still room avail-
able on the day of the work-
shop, no one will be turned
away for lack of funds.
For the talent show audi-
tion, participants need to send
in a 1- to 5-minute video of
themselves performing their
act. <The talent could be any-
thing from juggling to music,
dance, acting, poetry, you
name it,= Sharp explained.

directly to Jennie Sharp at

She said, <The video
doesn9t need to be high qual-
ity, just enough for us to get a
sense of what you9ll bring to
the talent show.=
Starshine requests that
all submissions are polished
pieces ready to perform, since
there will be no rehearsal. The
Fir Street Park stage has a con-
crete floor and will be outfit-
ted with two microphones and
a PA/speaker system, donated
by Rich Hummel.
Sharp plans to direct sev-
eral more shows on the band-
shell stage this summer: the
August 25 Sunday Showcase
at Sisters Farmers Market,
and three plays performed by
her summer camp students.
Summer camp registration
will be available via SPRD
beginning May 16.
