the OCCA all-state competi-
tion on Saturday, November
10 at Thurston High School.
They competed in the All
Girl Stunt and the individual
competition.
Fifty-two girls competed
in the 4A individual division,
vying for a spot in the top 10.
Roy Gannon placed fifth and
Victoria Shellswell-White
placed first, earning a $1,000
scholarship.
The two girls have secured

Sisters elected three city
councilors to three open seats
on the Sisters City Council.
Incumbent Nancy
Connolly and new coun-
cilor Michael Preedin, as
the top two vote-getters, will
serve four-year terms, while
incumbent Richard Esterman
will serve another two-year
term.
Sisters resident, repub-
lican Patti Adair, defeated
democrat James Cook
to take Position 3 on the
Deschutes County Board of
Commissioners, while repub-
lican Tony DeBone held onto
Position 1 in the face of a
challenge from democrat
Amy Lowes.
All successful candidates
will be sworn into their posi-
tions in January.
Connolly and Preedin
have both expressed interest
in exploring the possibility
of Sisters reconstituting its
own police force. The City
of Sisters currently contracts
for law-enforcement services
with the Deschutes County
Sheriff’s Office.
All three councilors said
they are interested in find-
ing ways to mitigate growth
issues, including traffic.
Esterman said he wants to
experiment with some turn
restrictions and pedestrian-
crossing regulation on
Cascade Avenue. Esterman
also said that he has changed
his mind about vacation rent-
als and now favors tighter
regulation to preserve
neighborhoods.
Connolly is interested in
issues surrounding afford-
able housing. She expressed
satisfaction with the City’s
recent $300,000 investment
in a project providing afford-
able apartments, and she is
open to the idea of creating
a pool of funding to support
workforce housing.
Preedin, too, is concerned
about housing and is inter-
ested in exploring possibili-
ties for creating more hous-
ing inventory in Sisters.

This is the first time the
Outlaws have had girls win a
spot on the all-state team.
