They have been tar- geted for immediate removal. The trees are dead or dying and at risk of falling onto the highway. Removal operations are underway and are expected to be completed this week. According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, depu- ties and Black Butte Ranch police responded at about 3:49 p.m. on September 26, to a report of a domestic dis- pute at 576 E. Jefferson Ave. in Sisters. When law enforce- ment arrived, they contacted Noah Kirshner outside the residence. Investigators determined that Kirshner had caused extensive damage to See ARREST on page 30 Project will enhance Whychus Creek Public can meet two finalists for city manager By Sue Stafford Correspondent The Sisters City Council has announced two finalists for the position of city man- ager: Cory Misley and Tom Pessemier. Cory Misley is the cur- rent city manager of La Pine, where he has served since 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Psychology from Portland State University and a Masters of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Tom Pessemier most recently worked for the City of Sherwood. Since 2005 he has served in several posi- tions including: assistant city manager, city manager pro- tem, community develop- ment director, city engineer, Inside... and civil engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Oregon State University. The community can meet the finalists in person at an event on Monday, October 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Sisters City Hall, 520 E. Cascade Ave. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss topics of interest with the finalists in an infor- mal setting. Light refresh- ments will be served. Final interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, October 9; the City Council expects to make its selection by Wednesday, October 10. Whychus Creek is one of the most important features of the landscape of Sisters. The stretch where it runs through town is slated for enhancement. The Sisters City Council reviewed concept designs for the Creekside Park and Campground Fish Passage and Restoration Project at their September 26 workshop. Mathias Perle, program man- ager for the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council (UDWC), made the presentation. The City and UDWC are collaborating to restore and enhance the section of Whychus Creek between the Locust Street bridge and the Highway 20 bridge, where the creek runs between the park Whychus Creek runs through Sisters.
