Wednesday, July 25, 2018 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon CATT: Law enforcement team will work in Sisters Continued from page 3 and bicycle patrols. The goal, Bailey said, is to “interrupt and disrupt these kinds of behaviors that are causing these quality of life issues.” CATT will address spots in Sisters where illegal drug sales and possession activities are known to occur. “Those entail a combina- tion of patrol and street detec- tives, as well as a drug patrol canine,” Sgt. Bailey reported. Speeding and distracted driving will be addressed, too, Bailey said, and there will be extra DUII patrols during the Sisters Rhythm and Blues Festival, August 4-5. The patrols should motivate people to keep their speed in check and stay off the cell phone. “We always encourage everyone to just follow the traffic laws,” Sgt. Bailey said. “They’re there for a reason — to keep everyone safe.” The CATT is a funded item in the sheriff’s office budget, and the intent is to make it a regular part of DCSO services, Bailey said. “We’re tracking it to see how successful it is,” Sgt. Bailey said. The first CATT patrol on Friday, July 13 got the pro- gram off to a strong start. DCSO utilized two marked patrol vehicles and four unmarked vehicles with the focus of the patrol being the illegal possession and sales of drugs in local communities. NEED IT? RENT IT! CLEAN TRACK CARPET CLEANER Obituaries David L. Brown Lois Louise Mason February 26, 1957 — July 7, 2018 November 18, 1945 — May 2, 2017 David L. Brown, (Dave), died peacefully in his sleep after a very brief battle with cancer on Saturday, July 7. Dave was born in San Diego, California, on February 26, 1957, and moved to Sisters in 1991, where he became a familiar face at Hoyt’s Hardware. He worked there for close to 30 years. Dave was respected by the staff and local con- tractors for his knowledge and competence. He was a renaissance man who loved crafting new brews, cooking up new reci- pes in the kitchen, building and playing guitars, renovat- ing his ’58 Chevy flat-bed truck and flying his drone helicopter. As an avid out- doorsman he enjoyed ski- ing, kayaking, windsurfing, camping and hiking. Dave was a long-time resident of Tollgate, and spent time renovating his home and garden where he lived with his beloved pets. Dave will be remem- bered as a kind, thought- ful and humble man. He was one of the rare human beings who actually took the time to listen to others and respond with genuine interest. Dave is survived by brothers Robin Brown of Lois Mason passed away peacefully while in home hospice, with her husband, Phil, at her side. She died as she lived, with quiet dignity. Born to parents Harold and June Marshall, she was raised on a farm in rural Washington. The family was large: two sis- ters and three brothers. She graduated from a Seventh- day Adventist academy. A good student, she was an avid reader of novels by such authors as James Michener. She loved travel, cooking, and her dogs. At age 19 she married Ron Critchlow, an army recruiter. They were stationed in Germany and Texas. Two children, Lloyd and Loretta, arrived and later blessed Lois with three grandchildren: Crystal, Ash, and Alexander. Although the marriage ended in divorce, she remained close friends with Ron. Although partially paralyzed and in constant pain, she never complained. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is missed.
