Elm St.) to inspect and educate caregivers on how to install and properly use their child safety seats, including booster seats. No appointment is necessary. Women & Backpacking The Deschutes Land Trust will offer “Women’s Introduction to Backpacking” at the Metolius Preserve on Friday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to noon, free! City to Award Grants The City of Sisters seeks to award grants to nonprofi t community groups and other entities that meet the criteria for the 2018-19 fi scal year, beginning 7/1/18. The City will award up to a total of $20,000 in grants for Sisters community projects. Submit a Community Grant application (on the City’s website or at City Hall) and letter of interest by Friday, July 27, to the attention of Kerry Prosser, City Recorder. Questions? Pending Changes to the County Marijuana Program The Deschutes County Board of Commissioners proposes marijuana regulation changes with public hearings scheduled to begin in late summer. DLT Walk & Hike Series Deschutes Land Trust volunteer naturalists lead free walks and hikes in small groups, now through November 2. The Sisters Rotary Hoedown is set for Saturday, July 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. at 67480 Cloverdale Rd. Join Rotary and four other nonprofi ts (Circle of Friends, Seed to Table, SHS Flight Science and Band of Brothers) to dance, eat, drink, play and fundraise. Fundraising Golf Scramble Saturday, August 18 at River’s Edge Golf Course (Bend), the 4th annual golf scramble takes place to raise funds for Central Oregon Veterans Outreach. City Election Materials Three City Council positions will be open on the Nov. 6 General Election ballot; the terms of Asson, Connolly, and Esterman expire 12/31/18 (and they’re eligible to re-apply).
