Wednesday, July 4, 2018 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon STA seeks program manager Sisters Trails Alliance (STA) is hiring a part-time program manager to support its fundraising, membership and event-planning programs. This is the first paid position for the nonprofit organization and a unique opportunity for the right person to shape their own role and help STA grow. Since its inception, the activities of STA have been managed by a cadre of enthu- siastic and capable volun- teers and board members. But the organization has grown to a point where hav- ing a consistent presence and point of contact for STA members, donors, sponsors and volunteers is a neces- sity. Thanks in part to a grant from the Oregon Community Foundation, STA is now able to support a permanent, part- time role that will help the organization manage its vari- ous fundraising activities and deepen relationships. S TA m a i n t a i n s t h e Peterson Ridge Trail System and is an active advocate for trails and trail-related issues. Interested candidates can view the position descrip- tion at www.sisterstrails.org. Cover letter, résumé and refer- ences should be sent to info@ sisterstrails.org or mailed to PO Box 1871, Sisters, OR, 97759 by July 23. Sisters resident featured at energy conference The high-performance home of a Sisters resi- dent will be featured in the GoCleanEnergy Conference, July 13, in Bend. “How-to” sessions will engage businesses, indi- viduals, and government. 350Deschutes, a local non- profit, will convene 23 speak- ers and three keynotes to suggest the latest options to reduce energy use, manage waste, and get incentives for energy improvements. Opening keynote Jeff Hammarlund will describe the innovators: companies and governments that are leading and benefitting from the energy revolution. Nossa Familia Coffee will tell how they grew their business as a Bcorp, an innovative plat- form that combines business strength with social respon- sibility. The community is encouraged to attend and learn how easy it is to par- ticipate in sustainable actions that benefit everyone. Homeowners, builders, renters, buyers, and real- tors will learn how to benefit from the Home Energy Score, recently implemented in Port- land, Vermont, California and New Jersey. Sisters resident Scot Davidson will present this session, and be available at the conference to answer questions about his new high- performance home. Energy Trust of Oregon ally Mike Lillesand and Green Realtor Mike Tucker will describe why more buyers are preferring solar and high- performance homes, and how builders can build them to meet this growing market. Individuals, business, breweries, and food service businesses will learn how to avoid plastic. Ashley Ham- mond, SunRiver Brewing Company, will instruct in vending and how to train staff. “Wasted Food: Wasted Money,” offered by DEQ, offers value as participating businesses reduce food costs.
