City to Award Grants
The City of Sisters seeks to
award grants to nonprofi t
community groups and other
entities that meet the criteria
for the 2018-19 fi scal year,
beginning 7/1/18. The City
will award up to a total of
$20,000 in grants for Sisters
community projects. Submit a
Community Grant application
(on the City’s website or at City
Hall) and letter of interest by
Friday, July 27, to the attention
of Kerry Prosser, City Recorder.

Kiwanis Food Bank
You may be eligible for food
assistance. Find eligibility rules
at the Sisters Kiwanis Food
Bank, located at 328 W. Main
Ave., open Thursdays from
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. USDA is an

Sisters Christian Academy is
accepting applications for the

Place, Sisters Drug is hosting
FREE adult fi tness and health
sessions led by Shannon
Rackowski. Classes are the fi rst
and last Thursday each month,
from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. in
the Ray’s community meeting
room. Sessions are based on
the CDC STEADI Program, to
reduce adult injuries from falls.
Tai Chi has been shown to
improve balance and strength,
helping to accomplish this. All

Parkinson’s Support Group
The second Tuesday of each
month, a peer-led support
group for Parkinson’s Disease
patients (or family members or
caregivers) will meet from 1 to
2:30 p.m. at Suttle Tea, 450 E.

City Election Materials
Three City Council positions
will be open on the Nov. 6
General Election ballot; the
terms of Asson, Connolly, and
Esterman expire 12/31/18 (and
they’re eligible to re-apply). You
must be registered to vote in
Oregon and a resident of the
city of Sisters for 12 months
preceding the election. Pick up
materials at City Hall starting
May 30. Perfected petitions
must be received by 5 p.m. on
August 28 to be on the ballot.
