Sisters gets musical for rodeo
Music and rodeo fit like
a custom saddle on a horse.
This week, multiple Sisters
establishments are serving up
music entertainment to round
out the rodeo experience for
fans and locals.
Hardtails Bar & Grill
is kicking things off on
Wednesday night, June
6, with the return of the
acclaimed country duo Love
and Theft.
“We’re just excited to
have them back,” said owner
Steve Macey, noting that
travel from Nashville and
other commitments make
accommodating a Pacific
Northwest gig a big deal for
the outfit.
Love and Theft are
touring on the strength of
their third album, entitled
“Whiskey On My Breath.”
The album marks a signifi-
cant creative statement for
the two singer-songwriter-
guitarists, whose résumé
already includes a long series
of career highlights. The
new collection finds the pair
stripping their sound down
to its essence, with spare,
largely acoustic arrange-
ments that focus squarely
on their impassioned perfor-
mances and distinctive vocal
chemistry.
The party continues
Thursday through Saturday
with The Rowdy Vegas Boys
— and an opportunity to test
your skills on a mechanical
bull.

next-to the-nth-gen) TSP.
This Memorial Day weekend exempli-
fies the issue, with bumper-to-bumper traffic
through (and beyond) town.
A few comments/suggestions:
• If you can, bike to/around town.
• Couple big signs at each end of Cascade
Avenue: “Stop for pedestrians, but for God’s
sake don’t stop in the intersection.”
• At every cross-walk (maybe on the rect-
angular pads in the bulb-outs): “Stand here
to cross,” or “Act like you want to cross,” or
SOMETHING.
• The bike shops (and parents) in town
might want to educate their patrons that a per-
son on a bike is just another vehicle; a person
walking a bike is a pedestrian.
will serve up the acoustic
Americana that has made
them one of Central Oregon’s
favorite bands at Sisters
Saloon on Wednesday, June
6. Through the weekend,
Sisters Saloon welcomes
back Rodeo favorite The Joe
Slick Band, playing in the
courtyard, while the indoor
stage features the music of
local favorites Dry Canyon
Stampede
Takoda’s gets into the
chutes on Sunday, June 10
from 4:30 p.m. to close fea-
turing Mark Conlkin and
Got Whiskey live on the
patio.
Check The Nugget events
calendar, right, for more
activities in Sisters over
Rodeo Weekend.
• Parents: PLEASE educate your kids and
teach them not to run across a cross-walk. One
lane might see them and stop while the other
doesn’t (I’ve seen it many times).
• Do I even need to mention the “Don’t
Turn Left Or Try To Cross Cascade During
Tourist Season” rule?
• The roundabout works well in prin-
ciple, but only if everyone uses it correctly.
Education is key: Don’t stop unless you
really (really) have to, coming or going.
There’s at least one more of these in our
near future, so we all need to know how they
work.
I realize I’m preaching to the choir here,
but if each of us passes along the knowledge
to guests and family we may, at least, delay the
inevitable gridlock that’s coming in the years
ahead.
