Wednesday, May 9, 2018 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon to Central Oregon and my concerns related to my area. Ms. Baney not only listened, she fol- lowed up with me personally. Her presence throughout the classes as well as running a public County meeting were nothing but pro- fessional, her demeanor kind and her knowl- edge of our County very thorough. In contrast, my personal experience with Patti Adair (who is running against incumbent Tammy Baney) was negative. As a fellow par- ticipant of our County College group, I found Ms. Adair lacking in listening skills, she did not follow through on a task she assured me she would, and repeatedly carried on distract- ing personal conversations during presenta- tions by various Country departments. I was unclear then of her agenda as a participant in our group, but now can see her political moti- vations — and I certainly won’t vote for her in this Oregon Primary. Tammy Baney is the only choice for Deschutes County Commissioner Position 3. Liam Hughes Pendleton, Oregon s s s To the Editor: In 2017 I participated in the Deschutes County College, an eight-week course offer- ing citizens of the County an opportunity to learn more about how our County tax dollars are spent, the services the various departments provide, and meet our three elected County Commissioners. During the first class each County Commissioner presented and dis- cussed their roles on various committees, their specific interests, background and expertise. I met and spoke with Tammy Baney on more than one occasion about my recent move Students medal at NW Championships... PHOTO PROVIDED Sisters adaptive Taewondo athletes did well in recent competition. We played very well, and very consistent. Rylee had great serves, and we both had good net play, and pretty good ground strokes.” Hallie Schwartz and Lola Green posted scores of 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, in their win over North Marion’s Perez and Hefner. It was a very close match, and Schwartz and Green battled back to win the second set, and then closed the deal in the final set. Tosello said, “Hallie and Lola consistently hit amaz- ing deep ground strokes in the far back corner of the ally, as well as volleys at great shot angles. I’ve never seen them hit so many shots with such great placement in one match before. They’ve worked so hard all season, and it’s awe- some to see them advance in the district tournament 21 to day two.” Mattie Mynatt and Engracia Diez drew a pit-tail match, and tallied an easy 8-2 win against North Marion’s Perez and Cha. They fell 3-6, 3-6 to Madras’ Olivera and Olivera (No. 3 seed) in the round-one match. To s e l l o c o m m e n t e d , “These girls have only played together once. I doubt the Madras team ever expected them to be so skilled, and put up such a good fight. Both of our girls were so aggres- sive and played some of their best tennis of the season. Engracia is very skilled, and she is a steady force. Mattie likes to put the ball away, and does so with her serves and volleys. They were a great combo together. They took the seeded Madras team so off-guard that they won the first two games.” On Monday, the Outlaws beat Estacada 6-2 in their last league match of the season and wrapped up conference play with a 4-4 record. The Outlaws were happy to wrap up league in fine fashion.
