Outlaws softball nine opens final Sky-Em season
By Tom Mauldin
Correspondent
The Sisters High School
varsity softball team takes to
the road to open its final year
of Sky-Em League play this
week with two major obsta-
cles – No. 2 ranked Elmira
and 4-2 Sutherlin.
The Outlaws, 1-6 in pre-
season games, hope to snap
their six-game losing fol-
lowing a pair of losses 17-6
to Jefferson and 18-3 to
Gladstone last week.
Elmira is 8-1 and has
allowed a 4A division low
of only 20 runs. Elmira’s
lone loss was to 6A Sprague
of Salem, 7-3. The Outlaws,
who opened the season with
a 21-15 win over Klamath
Union of Klamath Falls, have
allowed 128 runs, second
most in 4A.
By comparison, Elmira
has scored 74 and Sisters 39.
The two teams have played
one common opponent,
La Pine. Elmira beat the
Hawks 10-0, the Outlaws lost
11-1.
It won’t get much easier
on Friday, when the Outlaws
spend four-plus hours on a
bus for a double-header to
Sutherlin. The Bulldogs are
4-2.
