Police look for fugitive
Oregon State Police (OSP)
are asking for the public’s help
in locating a fugitive who fled
from a traffic stop in Tumalo.
According to OSP, on
Sunday, April 1 at about 12:54
p.m., an Oregon State Trooper
made a traffic stop on a white
1992 Ford F350 pickup after
receiving a traffic complaint.
The vehicle operator, Ronald
K. Credille, 22, of Bend, pro-
vided identification to the
trooper but then fled the scene
of the stop on foot.
OSP reports that Credille
had two outstanding war-
rants for his arrest out of Linn
County.
Multiple deputies from the
Deschutes County Sheriff’s
Office responded to the
Tumalo area to assist. A short
time later, Credille was seen
at the end of Riverview Drive
by a deputy and fled across
Highway 20. A deputy gave
chase along the south end of
the Knife River complex but
lost Credille in the area. A
DCSO K9 was requested and
Deputy Johnson and his part-
ner Ezel responded to assist

and began to track the suspect.
An Emergency Phone
Network notice was sent out
to residents in the area asking
them to secure their homes
and be on the lookout for him.
Credille was tracked along the
Deschutes River and the K9
team found a hat and “hoodie”
sweatshirt that Credille
dropped while fleeing.
The Deschutes County
Sheriff’s Office is asking for
the public’s help in locating
Credille. Contact Deschutes
County 911 non-emergency
number at 541-693-6911.
Kitzhaber agrees fine
PORTLAND (AP) —
Former Oregon Gov. John
Kitzhaber has agreed to pay a
$20,000 penalty to settle vio-
lations of state ethics law.
The Oregon Government
Ethics Commission meets
Friday, and the settlement
is on its agenda. Kitzhaber
agreed to it two weeks ago.
Kitzhaber resigned in 2015
amid allegations that his fian-
cée used their relationship
to win contracts for her con-
sulting business. No criminal
charges were filed, but the
ethics panel determined that
Kitzhaber violated state rules
against conflicts of interest.
Kitzhaber faced a maxi-
mum fine of $50,000, but
cases are often negotiated.

university
on alert
EUGENE (AP) — Last
week was spring break at the
University of Oregon, but not
for its police department.
T h e R e g i s t e r- G u a rd
reports the university has
increased patrols as officers
look for the criminals respon-
sible for four robberies and
two holdup attempts on or
near campus in recent weeks.
Those crimes are among
the dozen robberies that have
taken place in Eugene and
Springfield over the past
month. The latest robbery
happened Friday night, when
a man with a gun robbed an
employee at a pizza place in
west Eugene.
The crime spree has put
UO students on alert and their
parents on edge. In addition
to having more officers on
nightly patrol, the university
has extended the hours of its
shuttle service.
