Jordan Pollard
Sisters High School January 2018 Student of the Month
Jordan Pollard likes challenges.
A taste for challenges has led
him to serve as Community Ser-
vice Coordinator for ASG and to
take on three sports: cross-coun-
try, track and swimming. And heʼs
planning to move on to a big chal-
lenge after graduation.
“Iʼve enlisted in the Marine
Corps for a fi ve-year reconnais-
sance contract,” he said. “I think
the brotherhood of the Marine
Corps is pretty cool.”
The physical demands of that
endeavor alone are daunting —
but Pollard is up to it; heʼs one
of the Outlawsʼ standout runners,
and heʼs got a head start through
the SHS IEE program.
In addition to sports and the
outdoors, Jordan enjoys working
in the wood shop, where he built
a ukulele.
Jordan says he appreciates the
strong connection between the
Sisters community and its schools.
“I think Sisters does a good
job of community-to-school —
with the connection,” he said. “I
think the school connection and
the community connection is
important.”
“Jordan Pollard works hard. He is
motivated, dedicated, and disciplined,
and such commitment to his goals has
led him to be one of the fastest runners
in the state. He is also kind and car-
ing. This year in cross-country, Jordan
led his team, developing a culture of
fun, diligence and high expectations.
Jordan goes the extra mile for others. I
am so proud of Jordan and the accom-
plishments he has earned.”
— Rima Givot
“Jordan Pollard is an amazing Out-
law who has industry, integrity, and
passion. He works hard every day in
the classroom, on the trails, and on the
track, which is why heʼs been such a
crucial member of so many dif-
ferent SHS teams. Heʼs also one
of those people who consistently
does the right thing — even when
doing the right thing is diffi cult.
In addition, he cares deeply about
our students, our school, and
our community, which is why he
constantly goes out of his way to
take care of others. In short, heʼs
a great student who leads by set-
ting a positive example, which is
why he defi nitely deserves this
award.”
— Matt Bradley
“Jordan is an absolutely all-in
young man. He goes at 100 per-
cent at everything that he does.
He is also so good when anyone
needs help, he truly cares for
others and helps the underdog.”
— Rand Runco
“Jordan is one of the hardest-work-
ing student athletes that I have got to
work with here in Sisters. He has a
tremendous commitment to excellence
and his work ethic is contagious.
SHS has benefi ted greatly from hav-
ing this young man in our hallways,
classrooms, and representing us in
athletics!”
— Gary Thorson
