The girls basketball squad
dropped both their games this
past week; a 63-33 loss to
Madras on Tuesday, January
9, and a 51-16 loss at Cottage
Grove (CG) two days later.
In Tuesday’s game against
No. 6-ranked Madras, the
Outlaws had trouble with the
White Buffs press, and com-
mitted 23 turnovers in the
contest.
Sisters only made it to the
line once, with Kaylee Huber
making the shot for Sisters.
Sydney Head scored eight
points, Gracen Sundstrom and
Alexa Stewart tallied six each,
and Kaylee Huber added five.
Sundstrom and Weber had six
rebounds each.
Sundstrom shared her
thoughts on the Lady Outlaws
season so far:
“We have had some
bumps, but they have only
helped us grow as a team, and
a family. Even after some of
the hard losses, I’m always
excited the next day to go to
practice and improve more. I
really wouldn’t want to start
my sophomore league season
with any other team.”
“Madras plays a lot of
summer ball, and that was
evident in their great per-
formance on the court,”
said Coach Alan Von Stein.
“Overall, the girls played
pretty well. They made some
mistakes, but they are still
making progress.”

Outlaws dropped their game
against CG in the league
opener. The Lions boast a big,
athletic team, with four of
their starters over six feet tall,
which was more than Sisters
could handle.
It was a rough game for
the Outlaws, who only put up
16 points in the contest.
“You can’t beat height,”
said Von Stein. “In addition to
their height, the Lions double-
teamed us, and kept throwing
it inside to their six-foot-two-
inch player. Our girls did a lot
of positive things, and they

are fabulous kids. This year
is just a building year for us,
and the future of the program
looks bright. We’ve got a lot
of good, young talent coming
up.”
Sisters was to play at home
against the Sweet Home
Huskies on January 16. On
Friday, the Outlaws will play
at home against Junction City.
