An opening reception with appetizers, beverages, and the announcement of the ever popular People’s Choice Awards will be held at the library on Friday, January 26 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. For additional information call Zeta Seiple at 541-549-6157. ARTifacts Art Experience The 21st annual celebration of the arts at Sisters High School takes place Wednesday, January 31, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It’s fun for the whole family, with hands-on art stations including silkscreening, murals, passports to a take-away prize and more! There will be a pop-up gallery of student art and luthier designs; plus live entertainment performed by students in music programs, with refreshments from the high school’s Culinary Arts program. Bingo & Community Dinner On Monday, January 22, all are invited to Sisters High School for a night hosted by Sisters Park & Recreation District and Outlaws Together. From 5 to 6:30 p.m., enjoy a delicious dinner, just $2 per plate. Bingo will follow at 6:30 p.m., $15 for 11 games. There are great prizes, with a grand prize of an iPad Air 2! Quilt Raffl e for Girl Scouts Fighting Hunger in Sisters Three Sisters Lions Club is collecting food during the month of January to be donated to the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank. The common goal of all Oregon Lions Club is to collect 15 tons of food this month. Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted at Deri’s Hair Salon (208 S. Cedar St.), Davis Tire (188 W. Volunteer for Parks Board The City of Sisters is accepting applications for a volunteer position on the City Parks Advisory Board (must live in the Sisters School District). The Board advises the City Council on matters pertaining to the acquisition, development, maintenance and preservation of public parks, trails, and open space areas; it meets once a month. Shelter Volunteers Sought Volunteer monitors are needed for the 5 p.m.-to-midnight shift at Sisters Cold Weather Shelter. Duties include checking in guests, helping with dinner and cleanup, and following the established evening checklist. There are two monitors per shift and training is provided. Sisters Girl Scout Troop 10732 is raising funds by raffl ing a quilt made by Dera Rosdahl. The beautiful 58" x 60" quilt is on display at Rainwater Cafe, where tickets are available for purchase.
