Lady Outlaws win final game at tournament
By Rongi Yost
Correspondent
The Lady Outlaws
matched up against some
tough competition at the
Seaside Tournament held
Thursday through Saturday,
December 14 through 16.
Sisters did make improve-
ments as the tourney pro-
gressed, and won their final
game.
Sisters started out strong
in their first match-up against
Newport, and held them to
nine points in the first quar-
ter. Turnovers plagued the
Outlaws in the second period,
and Sisters was outscored
18-3. In the fourth, they were
able to decrease their turn-
overs, but by then it was too
late. The final score marked a
49-18 loss for Sisters.
The Outlaws shot 22 per-
cent from the field and 40
percent from the line, while
Newport shot 41 percent
from the field and 55 percent
from the stripe.
Sydney Head and Alexa
Stewart each had five points
and five rebounds in the
game.
O n F r i d a y, S i s t e r s
faced Sequim, a team from
Washington, and although
they put together their
strongest four quarters for
the year, it wasn’t enough.
Sisters lost the contest 57-32.
The Lady Wolves were 56
percent with their two-point
shots and 40 percent from
behind the arc.
Coach Alan Von Stein
told The Nugget that Sequim
was a taller and more athletic
team, but the Lady Outlaws
hung tough.
Seven of the nine Outlaws
scored due to good ball dis-
tribution and unselfish play.
Rylee Weber led the team
with eights points and four
rebounds, and Alexa Stewart
followed with seven points
and four rebounds. Olivia
Hougham tallied five points
and three rebounds, and
Gracen Sundstrom scored six
points.
In their final game, Sisters
faced Crook County and
came out on top 28-16.
Sisters did much bet-
ter with ball control, and
decreased their turnovers to
18, compared to their games
against Newport and Sequim,
where they committed 28 and
27 turnovers respectively.
The Outlaws held a 6-2
lead at the end of the first
period and at the half were

up 13-8. They continued to
play well the second half and
outscored the Cowgirls 15-8
to seal the win.
Hougham had five steals
in the game, and Sundstrom
have five rebounds. Head and
Weber added four rebounds
each.
Sisters shot 46 percent
from the line, and only 26
percent from the field, an
area where Von Stein stated
they definitely will need to
improve. As the Outlaws
head into league play, they
will also need to work on
9
passing and ball control.
Of the tourney Von Stein
said, “The Lady Outlaws
had a great team-bonding
experience.”
