The Outlaws com-
peted in the Perry Burlison
Invitational, held at Cascade
High School on Saturday,
December 2. Sisters had only
11 varsity matmen at the tour-
nament, and finished 17th out
of the 24 teams in attendance.
Crook County took first,
Thurston placed second, The
Dalles took third, Cascade
finished fourth, and Sweet
Home was fifth.
Sophomore Ethan Martin
(195 pounds) was one of the
Outlaws’ stand-out play-
ers, and fought his way to a
fifth-place finish. Sophomore
Dylan Vantress (106) also had
a good showing, and finished
sixth.
Senior Casey Warburton
(285 pounds) won three of
his five matches. Warburton
was one match away from the
placing rounds, and was in a
heavyweight class, giving up
20 pounds to other wrestlers.
“We may not have had
many wrestlers place in the
tournament, but we had many
wrestlers win matches, which
helped our team score,” said
Head Coach John Downs. “I
told the team at the beginning
that every point counts. I was
very proud of the team.”
The JV squad brought
13 wrestlers to the competi-
tion, and did well in the JV
tournament.

Wills and Chayce Sproat)
were in the JV tournament.
Sproat pulled off a dominat-
ing first-place finish at 195
pounds, and Downs noted he
should have wrestled in the
182-pound weight class. Wills
(152 pounds) took third in the
tourney.
Downs was pleased with
his freshmen wrestlers, espe-
cially Jesse Peskin (113
pounds), who had never wres-
tled before, and who posted a
second-place finish.
Sophomores Anthony
Randolph (145 pounds) and
Sal Gibney (195 pounds) fin-
ished third, and junior Jackson
Robinson (220 pounds) fin-
ished fourth. Fifth-place fin-
ishers were: freshmen Chad
Patterson (126 pounds) and
Hunter Spor (160 pounds),
sophomore Austin Pade (138
pounds), and junior Collin
Harris (132 pounds).

“These tournaments are
always a great starter for the
season because it helps the
team understand at what cali-
ber they need to be wrestling
at for the rest of the season,”
said Downs. “It definitely
helps pick up the tempo in
practice and helps the wres-
tlers set goals.”

Tuesday, December 5, and
were to attend the Culver

The Outlaws’ team effort
resulted in a 57-43 victory
over The Dalles at home in
Sisters on Friday, December
8. It was a fairly even contest
the first half of the game, but
Sisters outscored The Dalles
in both the third and fourth
quarters to seal the win.
Sisters started out a bit
slow and were down 8-10 at
the close of the first quarter,
but battled hard in the second
and held the Riverhawks to
six points in the quarter. The
Outlaws would have held
them to just three, but The
Dalles knocked in a three-
pointer as the buzzer ended
the first half. Sisters was on
top 25-16 at the half.
The Outlaws controlled
the game in the second half,
extended their lead, and out-
scored The Dalles 32-27.
Three Outlaws finished
the game in double figures,
including Zach Anderson,
who led the way with 18
points. Noah Richards scored
14 points, and Jack Berg
contributed 13. Isaiah Rush
had five points, Brad Eagan
scored four, and Austin Lake
added three.
Sisters was stellar at the
free-throw line. They went
10-for-10 in the first half,
and 13-for-14 in the second.
Our goal is to basically
play hard, play smart,
and play together...
— Coach David Godfrey
The Riverhawks pressed
and pressured the Outlaws
throughout the contest, but
the Outlaws handled it well.
“We’re playing well as a
group, and we played solid
defense tonight,” said Coach
David Godfrey. “Our goal is
to basically play hard, play
