Parade kicks off holiday celebragion
By Jodi Schneider McNamee
Correspondent
Even with the threat of
rain, hundreds of folks,
including the furry kind,
came out in true Sisters style
lining both sides of Hood
Avenue on Saturday for the
annual Sisters Christmas
Parade.
Sisters Area Chamber
of Commerce and Hayden
Homes sponsored this
year’s parade, and the theme
“Winter Wonderland” cer-
tainly described the com-
bination of festive floats,
fire trucks and amazing
animals.
The Christmas parade
had children and big folks
applauding, laughing, and
cheering.
It was hard to tell who had
the most fun: the people in
the parade or those lining the
street watching it.
Children of all ages from
youngsters to oldsters smiled
and pointed and talked about
their favorite entries.

from Gov. Kate Brown on
November 13, 2017.
“SBA is strongly com-

assist Oregon small businesses
with federal disaster loans. We
will be swift in our efforts to
help these small businesses
recover from the financial
impacts of this disaster,” said

When Larry Len Peterson
sent his 600-page histori-
cal study “American Trinity:
Jefferson, Custer, And The
Spirit Of The West” out into
the world, he had no idea what
the response would be. It’s a
challenging book, employing
history, science, philosophy
and theology in an in-depth
exploration of the fraught his-
tory of race relations between
European-Americans and
native peoples.
As it turns out, Peterson’s

powerful chord.
In its year-end Best of
the West collectors edition
released last week, True West
Magazine rated Peterson
Best Author and “American
Trinity” as non-fiction book
of the year. The book rose
to the top among 600 or so
books submitted for review
each year to the attention of
the highly respected scholar
of the West, Stuart Rosebrook.

per issue of the magazine.

winter darkness descends
over the region.
Twilight comes early at
this time of year, and that
mixes with shoppers rushing
home with their treasures to
create a potentially dangerous
situation. It is often difficult
to discern a pedestrian even
in a crosswalk when it starts
to get dark, and there have
been incidents in the past of
pedestrians being hit as they
crossed Cascade Avenue at
night.
