SALEM (AP) — Oregon’s
original State Constitution
has been restored after
more than 137 years of
wear and a mix-up in page
numbers.
The Statesman Journal
reports that the restored con-
stitution was unveiled on
Monday. It had pages fall-
ing apart, fading ink, a torn
cover and a peculiar page
mix-up.
When it was first bound
in 1880 — 23 years after
being written — the constitu-
tion’s 52nd page was put in
front of the 51st. That mis-
take was identified and fixed
during a monthslong resto-
ration process earlier this
year.
State Archivist Mary Beth
Herkert said the original doc-
ument was “well-loved.”
The restored constitution
was placed beneath museum-
quality glass in the Oregon
State Archives building. It’s
opened to the preamble, with
digital before and after pho-
tographs showing the restora-
tion results.

Hawley Harrer named volleyball Player of the Year
By Rongi Yost
Correspondent
Hawley Harrer is a four-
year varsity starter, and has
been an impact player for the
Outlaws volleyball team all
season long. She not only was
a first-team all-league pick
this year, but was named the
Sky-Em Player of the Year for
the second year in a row.
Harrer was a setter and
a right-side hitter for the
Outlaws. She led the team
with 165 kills, and also posted
101 assists, 60 digs, and 12
blocks. She was a threat at
the service line and led the
team with a 97 percent serv-
ing record.
“Hawley is a dynamic
player with the ability to
impact the game in many
ways,” said Coach Rory
Rush. “She knows the game
so well, and is always pro-
viding guidance to her team-
mates. It has been an honor to
coach her this season.”
Last week, in a ceremony
at Sisters High School, Harrer
signed to play volleyball in
college for the UCLA Bruins.
Senior Jessie Brigham was
also a first-team selection and
is a four-year varsity player.
Jessie was the anchor in the
back for the Outlaws at the
libero position, and rarely did
a ball get past her. She fin-
ished league with 136 digs,
and in addition, recorded 33
assists, nine kills, and one
block. Jessie was solid and
steady at the service line, and
finished with a 91 percent
serving record.
“Jessie is an amazing
libero,” said Rush. “Her abil-
ity to read the ball and her
knowledge of the game is
unparalleled. She is a natu-
ral leader on the floor, and
always provides the spark for
our team. She will be missed
in the libero spot next year. I
have enjoyed coaching Jessie
this season, and have appre-
ciated her stepping up as a
leader on the floor.”
Seniors Ashlynn Cantwell
and Erynn Ricker were sec-
ond-team all-league picks.

— Coach Rory Rush
Cantwell (four-year var-
sity player) recorded 90 kills,
64 digs, five blocks, and one
assist, and was 90 percent
from the service line.
“Ashlynn is such a pow-
erful hitter, and has the abil-
ity to put the ball away when
needed.” stated Rush. “She
worked hard this season to
be a consistent threat on the
outside, as well as a strong
defender in the back row.
Because of her hard work,
Ashlynn has become a terrific
all-around player that has the
ability to impact games on
many different levels. I have

appreciated all her hard work
and growth this season.”
Ricker (three-year var-
sity player) was a force in
the middle for the Outlaws.
Erynn put up 40 blocks, and
also posted 39 kills, five digs
and three assists. She was 73
percent from the service line.
“Erynn has shown so much
improvement this year in her
game in offense, but primar-
ily her defense,” said Rush.
“Many times, her block in
the middle would shut down
the opponent and change
the momentum of the game.
Erynn has been a joy to coach
this year. Her athletic ability
is unparalleled, and she has a
work ethic to match.”
Sophomore Samantha
Silva earned honorable men-
tion and finished her second
year on the varsity squad.
Sam played at outside hitter,
and tallied 53 kills, 43 digs,
eight blocks and two assists,
and was 90 percent from the
line.
“Sam is a versatile player
with the ability to play any
position,” said Rush. “She
is very coachable and has
worked hard to become an
all-league player this year. We
will look to her next season
for bigger and better things.
I can’t wait to see her game
continue to improve.”
