Ranger
selected
The Deschutes National
Forest will welcome a new
District Ranger to the Sisters
Ranger District in early
December.
Ian Reid, currently the
North Fork John Day District
Ranger on the Umatilla
National Forest, has been
selected as the new Sisters
District Ranger. He will report
to the position December 10.
Reid earned a bachelor’s
degree in fisheries from
Oregon State University and
a master’s degree in biol-
ogy from Southern Oregon
University. Reid began his
Forest Service career in 1999
on the Rogue River-Siskiyou
National Forest as a district
fish biologist and program
manager. Through his career
Reid has worked with fire,
timber, mining, rangeland,
wilderness, and recreation
management.
“I am excited to be a part
of the Deschutes National
Forest and the Central Oregon
community. I look forward to
working collaboratively with
the public and our partners in
the area,” said Reid.
Reid’s wife, Annie, also
will join the Sisters commu-
nity as an English Language
Development teacher for the
Sisters School District.
Ian and Annie’s family
includes two young daugh-
ters: Ila, 11; and Opal, 7. In
their spare time, the fam-
ily enjoys hunting, fishing,
skiing and snowboarding,
trail and river running and
supporting youth athletic
programs
Boys soccer names seven to all-league teams

The boys soccer team had
seven players named to all-
league teams this year, with
juniors Colby Simeral, Asher
Bachtold, and Keaton Green
all earning first-team spots.
Colby, who played at mid-
field, scored seven goals in
league for the Outlaws, and
also tallied four assists.
Coach Rob Jensen said,
“Colby is a very talented
player, and had to play mul-
tiple positions this year to
meet the needs of the team.
He led the team in scor-
ing, and was a leader in
assists, even though he
played half the year at center
back.”
Asher also played at mid-
field, and scored four goals
and recorded one assist. This
year marked the second time
Bachtold was selected first-
team all-league. Last year he
was also a second team all-
state pick.
“Asher dominated the
middle of the field and was
a huge defensive catalyst for
our team,” said Jensen.
“Honestly, we would have
never been able to get where
we did without Asher.”
Keaton (midfield) scored
two goals for the Outlaws
and posted two assists.
“Keaton made a huge
jump this summer, from
being a role player to an
impact player,” stated Jensen.
“His work rate is top-notch,
and his attitude is always on
point.”
Kinnon Rutherford and
Willie Stewart were second-
team all-league selections,
and both played defense for
the Outlaws.
Jensen said, “After a few
games of giving up lots of
goals, Kinnon become our
go-to at center back. We
gave up 10 goals in the first
two games, and only 15 goals
the next 11 games. Kinnon’s
a smart player, has a great
sense for the game, and
was a huge impact player
for us.
“Willie quietly does his
job,” said Jensen. “He rarely
is out of position, and almost
never gets beat as an outside
defender. His leadership role
increased this year, and along
with Asher and Keaton,
[he] was one of the team
captains.”
Rounding out the
selections were Samson
Henneous (junior) and Ultra
Nillratanothai (senior) who
were honorable mention.
Henneous played at goal-
keeper, recorded five shut-
outs during league, and only
gave up one goal per game.
“Samson improved dra-
matically last year after step-
ping into a very challenging
position,” said Jensen. “He
did a great job and grew as
a leader.”
Nillratanothai played at
midfield and scored four
goals during the season.
Ultra is from Thailand and
joined the team after his late
arrival.

Jensen said, “Ultra fit in
with our team immediately,
and helped provide a scoring
threat. He helped the chem-
istry of the team, and with
ball movement. He was out
with a concussion for a large
chunk of the regular season,
however he was still one of
our top scorers.”
