INsERFERENCE: U.S. has
actively interfered in
elections
Continued from page 17
geopolitical reality that
is staring us in the face.
Manipulation and interfer-
ence in elections are the way
the modern game of thrones
is played. And we’re no lon-
ger winning.
“…if you’re the global
hegemon, you are manipu-
lating, influencing other
people’s elections. And
when we were manipulat-
ing other people’s elections,
we’re the global power. And
when we’re being manipu-
lated, when other powers
are penetrating our society
and manipulating our elec-
tions, that’s a sign that we’re
a declining power. And that’s
very serious.”
Here’s the bottom line:
Of course the Russians inter-
fered in our election. Pretty
successfully, too. They didn’t
need to actually win any-
thing. Regardless of whether
the Trump campaign colluded
with them — which, despite

a great deal of chalkboard
connect-the-dots specula-
tion, remains a claim with-
out strong evidence — the
Russians got big results from
a low-cost, low-risk opera-
tion. Our obsessive media
focus on the “Russia Scandal”
enhances Putin’s image at
home as a savvy, power-
ful geopolitical player, fur-
ther consolidates his power,
and creates a distraction that
allows him a loose rein to
incrementally move the bor-
der with Georgia, build a
Russian sphere of influence in
the Middle East and consoli-
date the Donetsk as de facto
Russian territory.
And Americans are dis-
rupted, disturbed and demor-
alized, rapidly losing what
faith we had left in our insti-
tutions. The country is further
divided, angry, and nervous
about the future. Our partners
and allies are not sure they
can count on us — or even
what to make of us anymore.
That’s a successful op
right there — one our own
black ops masters of manipu-
lation would be pretty satis-
fied with.
Guatemala feels our pain.
