Glory Daze Car Show will fill Main Ave.
On Saturday, July 15,
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
Main Avenue in Sisters will
become a showcase for shin-
ing chrome, deep colors
applied in perfect paint jobs,
and the proud smiles of own-
ers of classic cars and hot
rods.
East Main Avenue will
be closed from Elm Street
to Larch Street, 6 a.m. to the
conclusion of the event.
2017 marks the second
year of the Glory Daze Car
Show being managed by
Sisters Park & Recreation
District (SPRD). In 2016
SPRD was asked to take on
the management of the car
show and the June bike ride
now known as the Crest
the Cascades Bjarne Holm
Memorial Ride.
“It’s been really great for
us to take on the manage-
ment of these events. They
have allowed us to serve and
interact with a segment of our
community that until recently
we had very few programs
for,” said SPRD Executive
Director Liam Hughes.
“Sisters Park & Recreation
has had strong programs
for youth and teens dating
back to the day we were
founded, but participation by
adults has lagged far behind.
Getting more adults involved
with SPRD has been a goal
of ours for a number of years
now, and events like the car
show really help us do that.”

cles (pre-1989), from all over

the state, as well as a large
number of local entries.
“My favorite part of the
show is always talking with
the car owners about all the
work they have in their cars,”
Hughes said. “As someone
who likes to build and fix
things myself, I always love
hearing about some of the
engineering solutions these
guys have come up with
to turn a rusty old car they
found in someone’s barn into
a show-quality performance
machine.”
