Eighth-grade boys win track title

Depth proved to be the
key for the eighth-grade boys
track and field team as they
cruised to the team title at the
Central Oregon Mid-Major
District meet held Friday,
May 12 at Ridgeview High
School in Redmond.
The young Outlaws
scored in 13 of 14 events on
their way to 136.5 points,
well ahead of the Cow-
boys of Crook County, who
finished second with 102
points.
The distance crew pro-
vided a 1-2-3 sweep of the
1,500 meters as the most
dominant event for Sis-
ters. Ethan Hosang lead the
way in 4:42.61, while Will
Thorsett and John Peckham
came through in 4:54.01 and
4:54.56.
Thorsett doubled back
for a second place in the 800
meters with a personal best
of 2:25.61.
Other winners for the
Outlaws included Brody
Anderson in the 200 meters
with a fine time of 24.28,
which came after his third-
place finish in the 100 meters
(11.97).
Jack Ogan won the 110
hurdles in 17.12 and came
out on top in the high jump
as well with a clearance of 5
feet 2 inches. Hudson Jones
outdueled his teammate
Nate Weber in the turbo jav-
elin with a toss of 121 feet 3

Hayden Sharp had a
busy day racking up points
with a third-place finish
in the long jump (16 feet 2
inches), another third in the
pole vault (9 feet even), and
a second place finish in the
400 with a time of 57.55.
Hudson Jones pulled in a
third-place ribbon in the shot
put with a toss of 37 feet
9 inches.
Sharp also ran on the sec-
ond-place 4x100 relay with
Anderson, Jones and Hayden
Young, which sped around
the oval in 49.67 seconds.
Collin Fisher, Miguel
Gaona, Max Springer and
Will Thorsett took fourth in
the 4x200 relay in 1:59.16 to
polish off the team win.
The remaining teams
at the meet included Elton
Gregory, Jefferson County,
La Pine, and Obsidian.
Coach Bryn Singleton
echoed the praises of her
co-coach Kent Boles in say-
ing, “These boys all just did
such a great job, and we
couldn’t be more proud of
them.”
