son other than State, accord-
ing to Larson.
“It’s a great meet every
year and we expect a ton of
season best performances due
to the high quality of the com-
petition,” he said. “It’s a great
lead-up to the District and
State meets.”

ond (2:09.75), just .5 seconds

Freshman Josh Liddell
lowered his personal record
in the 1,500 meters where he
placed fourth in 4:41.05 and
Zach Anderson tied for third
place in the high jump with a
clearance of 5 feet 6 inches.
Coach Jeff Larson tipped
his hat after the meet for the
help of the Rotary Club of
Sisters and all the volunteers
that helped the meet go off
without a hitch.

Diedre Jones of Sisters
was recently awarded a
Kiwanis Career Opportunity
Fund (COF) grant to pay for
training as a medical radiol-
ogy technician.
Sisters Kiwanis awards
grants to Sisters-area adults
who are seeking a career
change. The COF assists
adults (25 or older) who are
financially unable to return to
school or retrain for a career
change.
Since its inception, the
fund has awarded more than
$55,000 in assistance to help
Sisters-area residents reach
their educational dreams.
Jones will enroll at Linn-
Benton Community College
to learn her new profession.
Linn-Benton offers a dis-
tance education program in
diagnostic imaging that will
enable Diedre to remain in
Sisters while she completes
the 22-month program.
She will take classes online
through FaceTime and do the
clinical work at local medical
imaging labs.
Diedre says that her goal
is to work in the medical
field that will provide her a
life-long stable profession
with a higher income than
she currently makes. She
also emphasized that without
the financial support from
Kiwanis it would be quite

difficult to get started in the
program.
The COF provides assis-
tance to start, augment or
complete a career that may
include vocational, techni-
cal, artistic or general fields
of study. Funds are available
to qualified residents within
the Sisters area regardless of
age, gender, disability, marital
status, race or current occupa-
tion. Kiwanis does not set
limitations on potential use of
the award.
COF applications are

Family Access Network or by
