seemed ready to attack me

The Deschutes County
Sheriff’s Office is asking
for the public’s assistance
in locating the dog and its
owner. The sheriff’s office is
also asking for anyone who
witnessed the incident to call
in and report what they saw.
The dog is described as a
brown-and-white pit bull/pit
bull mix dog.
Schneider McNamee was
driven to the Sisters-Camp
Sherman fire hall where she
was subsequently transported
by ground ambulance to St.
Charles Medical Center in
Bend for treatment.
She underwent surgery
and she reports that she is
recovering well.
Anyone with informa-
tion related to this incident
may contact the sheriff ’s
office at 541-388-6655 or
after hours through the non-
emergency dispatch line at

Schneider McNamee is a
freelance contributor to The
Nugget and writes the pet
column “Paw Prints.” She
is also a photographer and

Tehan noted that students
are responding in gratifying
numbers to the opportunity
to work in a state-of-the-
art facility “that has really
sparked their creativity and
imagination.”
In keeping with the theme
of producing food through
local agriculture, attendees
at the event dined on snacks
created by the SHS Culinary
Class.
The Sisters Science Club
was a sparkplug behind the
greenhouse construction
effort, and David Hiller was
the key volunteer. Hiller, a
retired Merchant Marine with
a background in engineer-
ing and architecture of large
ships, developed the plans,
designed, and helped build
the facility, which is named
“The Hiller” in his honor.
Hiller was quick to note

“Sisters Gallery and
Frame Shop has been rep-
resenting Jodi Schneider’s
work for three years or more.
Dennis and I are beyond hor-
rified that this accident hap-
pened to anyone – but par-
ticularly to Jodi, who is one
of the most fervent lovers of
animals I’ve ever known,”
said Helen Schmidling, gal-
lery manager.
“Six of Jodi’s original
watercolor paintings are
now hanging in the gallery,
all framed and ready to sell,
and a seventh painting, ‘Lady
Condor,’ is complete and
awaiting its mats and frame.
Prints will be available in
short order. We would like
to help with Jodi’s expenses
by offering them to interested
buyers with no gallery com-
mission. One-hundred per-
cent of the sale price will go
to Jodi.”

Cal Allen, TR McCrystal and David Hiller strvey the plants growing in the
new greenhotse.
“This was truly a commu-
nity effort,” he said, noting
that all of the volunteers and
the construction contractors
who served on the project
“really gave of themselves.”
He noted that it is impor-
tant for folks in Sisters
to support the businesses
that give so much to the
community.
Numerous local busi-
nesses and individuals were
acknowledged for their
work in constructing the
greenhouse.
SHS Principal Joe Hosang
thanked the host of volun-
teers: “Time is the most pre-
cious commodity, and we are
so grateful that you gave a
ton of it.”
After Tehan snipped the
ribbon, officially opening the
greenhouse (which has been
growing food for a couple
of months), SHS students
Emma Bloss, Bradley Jarvis
and Austin Morss offered
tours.
