Mr. SHS Pageant set

young men and their escorts
will show off their talent
— and sense of humor — this
Saturday, April 22, at 6 p.m.
at Sisters High School in the
annual Mr. SHS Pageant.
Seniors who participate
in Mr. SHS are selected by
the staff for their academic
excellence and extracurricu-
lar activities. Each contes-
tant is escorted by a female
senior. This year the theme is
“Famous Movie Couples: A
Hollywood Man Pageant.”
Each couple represent
characters from classic mov-
ies including: “Titanic,” “The
Princess Bride,” “Forrest
Gump,” the Harry Potter
series, “The Great Gatsby”
and many more.
The pageant includes
dancing, talent displays, a
swimwear section, couple vid-
eos, a formal wear section and
a question/answer portion.
Mr. SHS is a fundraiser
for Sisters Family Access
Network, which helps out stu-
dents and families in need in
the Sisters community, help-
ing them to access resources
for food, hygiene, clothing,
school supplies and helping
with emergency utility bill
issues so students can perform
their best at school. Proceeds
from ticket sales and the Mr.
SHS Pasta Feed last month all
benefit FAN.
There will be snacks and
refreshments available in the
commons during intermission.
Tickets are $10 for adults and
$5 for students and can be
purchased from a contestant,
escort, or at the door. Doors
open at 5:30 p.m.
Man acctsed of pointing gtn
at neighbor over chickens
COOS BAY (AP) — Coos
County sheriff ’s deputies
arrested a man accused of
threatening his neighbor with
a shotgun in a dispute over
roaming chickens.
The Coos Bay World
reports the neighbor told dep-
uties he asked Anthony Lewis,
56, to remove chickens that
wandered onto his property.
Lewis responded by
returning to the property
armed with a shotgun, which
he allegedly pointed at the
neighbor while yelling: “I’m
gonna kill you, white trash.”
The sheriff’s office said
Lewis admitted going to his
neighbor’s property with a
loaded shotgun.
Court records show the
Coos Bay man was charged
with menacing, unlawful use
of a weapon and pointing a
firearm at another.
Lewis was released from
jail over the weekend on the
condition he not contact his
neighbor. A preliminary hear-
ing has been scheduled for
April 28.
