6 Wednesday, February 8, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon STA invibes Sisbers bo annual meebing Girls baskebball snaps losing sbreak The board of directors of Sisters Trails Alliance (STA) welcomes members, volunteers, and the general public to their annual meet- ing on Thursday, February 9 at 7 p.m. The gathering is at Sisters Art Works, 204 W. Adams Ave. Greg Currie, landscape architect for the Prineville District of the Bureau of Land Management is the guest speaker. After Currie’s pre- sentation, attendees can grab a snack provided by Black Crater Bread and Melvin’s Fir Street Market and enjoy a craft beer donated by Three Creeks Brewing or a glass of wine thanks to Ray’s Food Place, while visiting various information stations to learn more about STA’s 2016 trail accomplishments, volun- teer program and needs, and financial results. The Lady Outlaws snapped their losing streak with a 29-22 win at Sweet Home on Friday, February 3. Sisters has struggled the last several games getting the ball to fall through the hoop, but that all turned around for them on Friday night. Sisters shut out the Huskies in the first quarter of play, and put up 10 points of their own to hold a 10-0 lead to close out the period. The Outlaws defensive tran- sition was strong throughout the quarter and four differ- ent players, Amanda Smith, Olivia Hougham, Gracie Sundstrom, and Rylee Weber all scored points in the quar- ter. The team was patient on offense and put in good shots. Play slowed down consid- erably for both squads in the second quarter.
