On Wednesday, December 7, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Commander Bill Anttila, VFW Vice Commander Earl Schroeder, and American Legion Commander Lance Trowbridge gave an educa- tional presentation on United States Flag etiquette and 13 fold United States Flag program to a group of local young people. The young people are a part of Heart of Oregon YouthBuild, an alternative school and job training pro- gram in Cloverdale. The veteran presenters were greeted warmly by the students, full-time AmeriCorps members, and staff. Heart of Oregon YouthBuild Program Director Kara Johnson said, “I was very impressed with how respectful and intrigued the students were during the presentation.” Some students even approached the veter- ans at the end of the presen- tation to respectfully thank them for their service. The News-Review reports the work is on-going and there is no timeline for its completion. Once the report is completed, it will be sent to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to be incorporated into other related documents. FBI spokeswoman Beth Anne Steele says the analy- sis is a law enforcement sen- sitive analysis intended to help understand behavioral patterns, warning signs and other factors. Despite previous plans to release the report in 2016, the sheriff’s office says it now anticipates it will be able to release the investigation sometime in early 2017.
