HEADQUARTERS
FOR “DUDES”

Jake, a Belgian Tervuren, cuddled up next to Santa for a festive photo to support Furry Friends Foundation.
Santa poses with
Sisters canines
Santa has gone to the dogs.
Even though Santa has been really busy
in Sisters this holiday season, he had time to
pull up his sleigh at Sisters Art Works last
Saturday to put in a special appearance for Pet
Photos with Santa that benefits Furry Friends
Foundation.
Loads of folks brought their beloved dogs
inside Sisters Art Works building to get a spe-
cial portrait with St. Nick.
And the “big dog” himself posed with
nearly 70 canines!
The holiday open house celebration dis-
played work by artists Kathy Deggendorfer,
Tonye Phillips, Kit Stafford, Al Krause and
more. Plus, there was food, drinks, and holi-
day gifts to purchase upstairs.
“Pet photos with Santa was an overwhelm-
ing success this year,” said Furry Friends
Foundation founder and director, Kiki Dolson.
“A record number of dogs attended to wiggle
their way onto Santa’s lap.
“I want to thank Santa (Sam Hernandez of
Central Bark). Since many of the dogs rec-
ognize who is under the Santa suit they leap
onto the chair with him. The Furry Friends
volunteers were all great, and a big thank-you
to pet photographer Jodi Schneider. I really
appreciate all who turned out to support Furry
Friends.
“I think part of the success for this year
can be attributed to the renewal of Kathy
Deggendorfer’s Open House at Sisters Art
Works,” Dolson added. “It was so generous of
her to include Pet Photos with Santa as part of
the day’s festivities.”
Funds from this event will go to help pay
for pet food for the holiday pet food drive
in conjunction with the Sisters Kiwanis and
Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD Spirit of Giving.
“Though we are getting a very gener-
ous donation from American Nutrition (Atta
Boy) again this year, it does not include cat
food,” Dolson noted. “We need about 80
bags of dry kibble, and yesterday’s fun-
draiser will go a long way toward that
purchase.”
Photo disks can be picked up at The Nugget
office, 442 E. Main Ave. beginning Friday,
December 9.
