The Weather Machine to rock The Belfry Indie folk rock band The Weather Machine is returning to the Belfry for their second annual Thanksgiving home- town throwdown show. The group’s last appear- ance was at the Sisters Folk Festival when they said fare- well to cellist and Sisters High School grad Matthew Cartmill, who followed his heart to Seville, Spain, in September. This show marks the first appearance of the band’s new lineup, fronted by Sisters local Slater Smith, with Luke Hoffman on drums, Andre Zapata on bass, Noah Bernstein on saxophone, and introduc- ing Tim Karplus on electric guitar. This show will likely be The Weather Machine’s last appearance before they disappear into the studio to work on their third full- length album. Prolific lyricist and songwriter Jeffery Martin opens the night. The show is set for Saturday, November 26. T h e R e g i s t e r- G u a rd reports that a total of 23,634 students enrolled at the uni- versity this year, down 2 percent from fall 2105 and 4 percent from the record high in fall 2012. Overall, the student population at the univer- sity has been falling or flat for a half-dozen years after UO officials quickly increased the student popu- lation in a major growth spurt. Though overall enroll- ment is falling, the number of out-of-state graduate students has been growing, with 11 percent more undergraduates coming from outside Oregon this year compared to 2002. The number of in-state grad- uate students has dropped 25 percent since peak enrollment in 2002. 11 Congratulations Turkey Giveaway Winners!
