Sisters will become the Wild West

Visitors to Sisters may feel
like they’ve stepped through
a portal into the Wild West on
Saturday and Sunday, August
20-21.
The Sisters Wild West
Show runs from 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. on Sunday, on the
lot between Sno Cap Drive
In and Oak Street on Cascade
Avenue.
The event features vendors
on Oak Street, a Wild West
Town, shootouts and more.
The Sisters Wild West Show
is free and open to the public.
Hasty Team makes two rescues
The Camp Sherman Hasty
Team was involved in two
rescues near the Pacific Crest
on Sunday, July 31.
At about 2:30 p.m. the
Team was notified of a Pacific
Crest Trail volunteer that had
injured her ankle near Minto
Pass. Forest Service employ-
ees along with Hasty Team
members responded to help
Carolyn Tucker, age 60, of
Corvallis. An Army Black
Hawk helicopter was utilized
to transport Tucker from near
Minto Pass to a hospital in
Springfield.
At about 4 p.m., the Team
was called on to help Lori
Hunter, age 60, of Forest
Grove. Hunter had fallen off
her horse between Carl and
Cabot lakes and sustained
injuries that would not let her
ride or walk. The Hasty Team
along with medics from the
Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire
District hiked in to help
Hunter. She was transported
by wheeled litter seven hours
to the trail head.
SAR Coordinator Dave
Blann said that anyone going
into the woods should have
the 10 essentials (map, com-
pass, sunglasses and sun-
screen, extra clothing, flash-
light, first-aid kit, firestarter,
matches, knife, extra food)
and let someone know where
you’re going and when you
will be returning. Cell ser-
vice in the mountains is not
something you should count
on. Spending a few hours
planning your outing can pay
big dividends if things go
wrong.
