Outlaws ousted in play-in game By Rongi Yost Correspondent The Outlaws’ run at the playoffs came to an abrupt end when they lost at home 1-0 to Brookings-Harbor (BH) in the OSAA state play- in game, held on Thursday, May 19. Sisters committed two errors in the contest and could only muster one hit. Brookings-Harbor scored their one run on five hits and had two errors in the game. The Outlaws did get on base due to walks and errors, but left eight runners stranded. In the fifth inning, Sisters had the bases loaded with two outs, and left them all on base. In the seventh, they loaded up the bases with one out, and couldn’t get anyone across the plate. Ryan Funk hit a ball in the sixth inning that on any other given day would have been a home-run, but the 60-mph winds kept the ball in, and the Bruins caught it for the out. Coach Steve Hodges did note Zach Morgan and his great pitching effort. Hodges said, “We just didn’t get good swings on pitches we should have hit. And, when we did hit, we hit it right to them. We didn’t make our own breaks, and we didn’t get any breaks today. But, that’s just what happens in baseball. “Brookings-Harbor is a team we should have been able to defeat. We were just waiting for that one good thing to happen, but it never did. We have to tip our hat to BH for beating us on our home field.” Adventure Camp Registrations Open!
