SFF presents Tower Theatre show
Sisters Folk Festival pres-
ents “Acoustic and Electric
— An Evening with Keith
Greeninger and David Jacobs-
Strain,” Sunday, April 24 at
the Tower Theatre in Bend.
Tickets are expected to go
fast for this first-ever presen-
tation by the festival at Bend’s
landmark venue.
Keith Greeninger and
David Jacobs-Strain first got
the chance to perform together
at the Sisters Folk Festival a
few years back, when they sat
in on each other’s sets. While
teaching at the Americana
Song Academy at Caldera
prior to the festival, the two
discovered a shared love of
late-night song-swapping and
extensive jamming. Since
then, these two artists have
jumped at every chance to
share a night of music.
Strong songwriters and
singers in their own right,
on stage they share a pas-
sion for that place where the
story, the music and the spirit
come together, and anything
can happen. The show at the
Tower Theatre will feature the
two performing both acoustic
and electric, and backed by a
full band.
Sisters Folk Festival’s
Creative Director Brad Tisdel
says, “This show is a culmina-
tion of many years working
with these two outstanding
artists, as friends, colleagues,
but at the core, fantastic musi-
cians, artists and songwrit-
ers. This is our first presenta-
tion of a show in downtown
Bend, and we were strategic
in choosing these artists to
showcase. They are special,
both solo and together. We are
thrilled to be working with the
Tower Theatre to present this
concert.”
Keith Greeninger is a
seasoned troubadour, multi-
award-winning songwriter,
and unforgettable performer.
His most recent CD, “Soul
Connection,” featuring mem-
bers of the Bonnie Raitt Band
and Little Feet, has been
receiving heavy airplay on
several top Americana sta-
tions throughout the country.
His music has been deeply
influenced by his work with
Native American and Latin
cultures, and his songs cut
an honest, hard-worn path to
places of simple truth, about
good people holding on to
hope and instinct in a world
that often tries to strip these
things away. His masterfully
crafted tunes and powerful
presence have earned him
top songwriting awards at the
Telluride Bluegrass Festival,
The Kerrville Folk Festival
and The Napa Valley Folk
Festival.

David Jacobs-Strain is a
fierce slide-guitar player who
channels the musical spirit
of the Mississippi Delta and
hand-hewn stories of his home
in Oregon. At 10 years old he
was busking on the streets of
Eugene and Seattle, by 19 he
was playing the Newport Folk
Festival and opening for Etta
James, and at twenty-one he
dropped out of Stanford to
play music full-time.
“As I go further into music,
the path seems to change.
When I first started playing I

wanted to capture the feeling
of the Delta blues. Now I want
to tell stories; the sound and
rhythm of the slide guitar are
a vehicle for the characters in
my head,” he said.
