The crowd is gathering already.
SAW hosts campfire
gathering
All are invited to “Gather
’Round the Campfire” and
enjoy the warmth of the
fire cauldron in front of the
Sisters Art Works Building,
204 W. Adams Ave., on
Friday, January 22, from 4 to
7 p.m.
The hand-forged copper
firepit created by artist Jeff
Wester of Ponderosa Forge
in Sisters was installed last
September as a public art
installation sponsored by The
Roundhouse Foundation.
This will be the first time the
community will be invited to
gather around and enjoy the
beauty of the campfire and
meet the artist who created it.
Music will be provided by
Sisters favorites Brad Tisdel
and Brent Alan and more
(bring your instrument if
you’d like to join in).
This event will coin-
cide with an artist reception
for Kim Kimerling’s show,
“Exploring Mixed Media
Collage” currently on display
in the Sisters Art Works Entry
Gallery through March 20.
Enjoy some delicious
Moonstruck Mexican hot
chocolate, a cup of hot chili,
and the warmth of the fire
with friends and neighbors.
The event is free to the
public.

Bob Collins, retired neu-
rologist, will do an encore
presentation of his well-
received talk on Secrets for
a Healthy Brain, on Sunday,
January 17, 1:30 to 3 p.m., in
the Community Room of the
Sisters Library.
Dr. Collins’ talk, the first
in the 2016 Diane Jacobson
Speaker Series, was so well
attended that about 40 peo-
ple were turned away long
before the 1:30 p.m. start
due to limited capacity of
the room where the talk was
held.
Those who did attend
were treated to a scholarly,
yet entertaining, evolution-
ary trip through the brain
and its functions. Collins
also debunked some of the
current claims being made
for supplements and activi-
ties that purport to improve
your brain function.
Friends of the Sisters
Library, who sponsor the
Jacobson series each year,
are grateful that Collins
offered to repeat his pre-
sentation. Attendees will
have the opportunity to
see inside a human brain
as well as receive hand-
outs on helpful things to do
to take good care of your
brain.
There is no charge for
the talk, and reservations
are not taken. The next talk
in the series will feature Dr.
Rob Jeffrey who will speak
on Pain — Treatment and
Prevention, on February
7, 1:30 p.m. in the Sisters
Library Community
Room.
