High Desert Chorale starts practice
Megan D. Sweet
December 11, 1927 — August 29, 2015
Born in Longmont,
Colorado to Morgan and
Esther Williams, she spent
many happy years growing
up around the Forks Hotel in
Loveland, Colorado.
Megan was a self-taught
pianist that went on to learn
music theory and composi-
tion. She taught piano while
living in Manhattan Beach,
California, while raising
her children. When she
owned the “No Name Bar”
in Sausalito, California,
she brought in a piano for
live jazz that continues
today.
In the early ’70s she
worked for Harry & David
as a computer programmer.
Megan had a vora-
cious appetite for read-
ing history and politics.
She was an advocate for
civil rights, education, and
peace.
She later became a fiber
artist, knitting, crocheting or
quilting beautiful sweaters,
blankets and dolls.
Megan is survived by her
husband of 34 years, Robert

Sweet; her daughters Tina
West, Tisha Thompson, PJ
Clark-Lais; and her son
Cliff Clark as well as 10
grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
She loved living in Camp
Sherman and, up until her
diagnosis of Parkinson’s,
walked daily along the
Metolious River stopping
for an occasional conversa-
tion with friends. Her lov-
ing smile will be missed
by all.
In lieu of flowers, memo-
rial gifts can be made in her
name to Partners in Care

“Does the weather feel
like fall?” Sisters High
Desert Chorale musical direc-
tor, Irene Liden, asked and,
answering her own ques-
tion with a big “YES!” She
then threw up her arms and
shouted, “So, let’s begin!”
For the singers of Sisters
Country, the arrival of
autumn weather means it’s
time to think singing about
Christmas, snowballs, holi-
day good times, and Handel’s
Hallelujah Chorus. The High
Desert Chorale will be starting
it’s holiday season practice on
Monday, September 14, 6:30
p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills
Lutheran Church in Sisters.
Liden says the music will
consist of traditional holiday
arrangements of Christmas
classics. If all goes as planned,
the High Desert Bell Choir
will be in on the festivities, as

The High Desert Chorale is starting rehearsals for its winter program.
well as instrumentals from the
Sisters community. In addi-
tion, if the kids who had so
much fun and charmed every-
one last season are willing,
there will be a children’s choir
as well.
The venue for the holiday
performance will be Sisters
Community Church on Friday,
December 18, at 7 p.m., and
again, Sunday afternoon,
December 20, at 2:30 p.m.
