Wednesday, July 15, 2015 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon A happy Furry Friend... Sisters is going to the dogs again Sisters may have to change its name to Dog Town. For the seventh year in a row, Sisters is combin- ing its passion for art with its love for our canine bud- dies in “The Dog Show: A Fetching Display of Canine Imagery.” Many of Sisters’ favorite artists have honored man’s best friend with their artistic depiction of canines for the show, which will be on dis- play at the Sisters Art Works Entry Gallery, 204 W. Adams Ave., July 24 through Sep- tember 23. The community is invited to attend the artist reception July 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. dur- ing the 4th Friday Art Stroll in downtown Sisters. Bill Birnbaum, Kathy D e g g e n d o r f e r, J e n n i - fer Hartwig, Jim Horsely, Gridgett McGinn, Mary Medrano, Randy Redfield, Greg Waddell and many more will be on hand to share their work. A portion of proceeds benefit Furry Friends Foun- dation, which helps families in Sisters through providing grants for veterinary care, spay and neuter coupons and a pet-food bank. The show is sponsored by The Round- house Foundation. 13 Next year’s session taking shape SALEM (AP) — Lawmak- ers wrapped up the legislative session, but the to-do list for next year is taking shape. A transportation-funding plan fizzled this year, but groups advocating for projects will continue their push. Universities got a big increase in funding but say they still need more money. Lawmakers approved funding to build subsidized apartments, but they failed to pass a bill creating the frame- work to spend the money. And liberal groups are still pushing a higher minimum wage.
