Sisters Church of the Nazarene
will host a game day geared
for ages 4 to 10 on Thursday,
July 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. The
church is at 67130 Harrington
Loop Rd., off Gist Road. Kids
will enjoy the giant slip-n-slide,
water balloon launcher and
other fun water games if it’s
warm, and plenty of dry games,
too, with a scavenger hunt and
more! Parents are welcome to
stay, or may drop off the kids

Free Self-defense Class
for College Students
Sisters Park & Recreation
District is offering a free
self-defense class for college
students, “How Not to Be a
Target,” led by Charles Quandt,
Sherri Hermens, Kim Manley &
Deschutes Co. Sheriff Lt. Scott
Shelton (ret.). It takes place at
SPRD on Saturday, July 25 from
noon to 2 p.m. Class size is
limited, so call early to reserve

Habitat Build in Kyrgyzstan
Sisters Habitat for Humanity is
seeking adventurous volunteers
to join Jack and MaryAnne
McDonnell in Sept. 2015 for
a HfH International build-trip
to Kyrgyzstan. No building
experience is required, just
a desire to help a family in
need of a decent home while
learning each other’s culture!

The City of Sisters seeks to
award grants to nonprofi ts and
others for Sisters programs that
provide: (1) help for essential
food, clothing or shelter; (2)
education or recreation for
children or seniors; or that (3)
generate or support economic
activity in Sisters. A community
grant application (on the City’s
website or at City Hall) should
be submitted with letter of
interest by Friday, July 17 to

Saturday, July 18 from 6 a.m.

Avenue will be closed for
the “Glory Daze” Car Show,

Volunteer for Parks Board
The City of Sisters is accepting
applications for one “in-city”
and one “out-of-city” volunteer
to serve on the Sisters City
Parks Advisory Board (3-year
terms). The Board advises the
City Council on acquisition,
development, maintenance
and preservation of public
parks, trails and open spaces.
The Board of seven members
typically meets once a month.
Applications are online at

City Hall and will be accepted
until 5 p.m. Friday, July 31.
