20 Wednesday, May 6, 2015 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Christian Hunt Sisters High School April 2015 Student of the Month Christian Hunt is determined to take ad- vantage of every opportunity that passes his way in Sisters. “I do my best to keep a busy schedule and do as much as I can with my time here in Sis- ters,” he says. That means athletics: He plays soccer and lacrosse and he is a snowboard rider. In the classroom, he’s strong in math and he is likely going to use that strength in his college career. “I’m thinking about attending Virginia Tech in engineering, maybe a minor in busi- ness,” he says. “My plan is to attend the school and take a lot of general classes and see what I like.” His family moved here from Redondo Beach, California, when he was in fourth grade. He says he appreciates the attention teachers are able to provide to students in a smaller school — and he enjoys the tight-knit school community. “Having small classes helps me know everyone and build lasting friendships,” he says. Christian thinks that’s a great way to do high school — then go out into a wider en- vironment in college to broaden experience. “It has been a privilege to teach Chris- tian Hunt these past few years at Sisters High School. I have enjoyed every minute that I have had him in class. Christian is not only a hard- working, talented student, but he is a wonder- ful model of what it means to be a true Sisters Outlaw. Christian goes out of his way to lend a hand, and can be counted on to do the right thing…always. I have no doubt that he will go far and do great things when he moves on. Con- gratulations, Christian! — Gail Greaney Christian is an outstanding student, a com- mitted athlete, an Eagle Scout, and one of the most consistently kind and generous persons I’ve met. It is truly a pleasure to have gotten to know Christian during his years at SHS. He is a wonderful example of everything it means to be an Outlaw. Congratulations, Christian. I hope you enjoy the wonderful road ahead of you! — Rob Corrigan It is said that if you keep your face to the sun- shine, you cannot see the shadow. When I think of Christian, I think of this. He is positive and persistent, making him not only a pleasure to have in class, but an encouragement to peers. His perspective on life is one that will carry him far and help him positively impact others. — Samra Spear Christian is awesome! He is smart, funny, and hard working. He does it all with a great attitude. I have absolutely loved having him as a student. — Daniel O’Neill Christian has been a joy to work with over the last four years. — Tony Cosby Congratulations Christian! Watch- ing Christian take on the role of student leader in the Key Club organization has been a pleasure. His quiet leadership skills have shone through this past year. It is nice to see him being recognized for his organizational and leadership skills. — Michele Hammer Christian Hunt is humble, hard- working, extremely bright, motivated, kind, well-adjusted and well-mannered. He is a person who always has a smile on his face and he gives out a friendly hello to all those around him. Christian radiates a positive energy that makes people want to be around him. Sisters High School is extremely fortunate to have Christian as a student athlete and as a student leader. I will personally miss him greatly next year. — Tim Roth I have had the privilege of having Christian in my AP Biology class this year. He was always courteous and polite and worked extremely hard to learn the concepts in this course. Academi- cally, he was near the top of the class, but just as importantly he was a great person who treated everyone with respect and compassion. He is one of those rare individuals who really brings out the best qualities of those around him. Christian is so deserving of this award. I wish him the very best.
