To show that no ono has tried to act prematurely, the llnauco committee has even refused and returned money. A mass meeting such as the petition calls for will undoubtedly Ihj able Ur co operate in such a manner as will give satisfaction and receive tho united and harmonious support of tho com munity. So far as tho nlxivo petition will arouse greater inter est in a reception to tho Oregon vol unteers, and contribute to paying them greater honors and inviting all tho people of this community in doing them justice for their bravo deeds, it meets with'general approval. Major Ingrain writes: "On September 25th bIx men went to work to test their claims. The ag gregate of four day's work was $1,800. The gold was of good quality and sold at St. Michael, without an assay, fur $111.85 por ounce. "On nccount of tho lateness of the season and lack of supplies no attempt to reach bedrock was made. "Tho news soon spread to St. Michael and elsewhere and has la-en a constant arrival of prospectors." Ban Fuancisco, Juno 27. Eight miners have just reached hero from Alaska with $250,000 as a result of two years' digging within twenty miles of Dawson. Han Fuancisco, Juno 2(1. Tho defense then presented an aillda vit, showing tho necessity of having Thomas Honey, who is now J held by the martial law, as a witucro for tho de fense and asked for a writ of habeas corpus to produce Hcney in court.
