Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Davis of Bot
lingham. Washington, who have
been visiting W. A. Delzell for the
last week, returned yesterday. Mrs.
Davis is a sister of Postmaster Delzell.
George Walton, manager of tho
California-Oregon Power company,
of this city, came in on last night's
train from Vreka, where he has been
attending a managers' meeting of
the company.
i Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Jones went
to Weed yesterday to meet their
daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Mehaffey.
of Antioch, California, who, with her
infant son, Lawrence Jr., has come
to make a holiday visit with her
parents. They will be joined by Mr.
Mehaffey at Christmas tlmo and will
remain over for the holidays for a
visit with relatives and friends in
tho city. Mr. Mehaffey was assist
ant cashier of the First Stato nnd
Savings bank here for many years.
Benton Bowers, a capitalist of the
Rogue River valley, came in last
night from his home in Ashland to
look after his large interests, here.

cott. who also holds the olllco of
secretary of stnte. from which ho
succeeded to the M0V'lrnorshlp on
tho death of Governor Wlthycombo,
contend that ho Is entitled to hold
tho governor's ofllco until tho expi
ration of the term to which Gov
ernor Wlthycombe was olected, which
ends In 1922. Opponents argue thnt
the law entitles him to hla seat only
