He died on June 3, 2015, at his home in Hermiston, Oregon, with his wife and sons by his side at the age DuBois of 67 years. Don graduated from Sanford High School in the class of 1966. He joined the United States Navy in January of 1967 and served 2½ tours in Vietnam. During his third tour Don was in- jured and was honorably dis- charged in March of 1970. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Viet- nam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. Don moved to Hermiston, Oregon, in 1970 and worked for Marlette Homes then building custom homes in the Hermiston area before hir- ing on at the Umatilla Army Depot in 1979. While at the Army Depot he received many accommodations for his outstanding work ethic. He was on the shooting team for the Army Depot, earning many trophies for his marks- manship. Don was united in marriage to LaVonne Smith in 1977 and helped to raise her four sons. Don was a devoted husband and father, living his life for his wife, sons, and grandchildren. Don had one dream and that dream was to spend the winters down south after re- tirement. God granted him that wish for 5 months before he was diagnosed with can- cer and returned home to be with his family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, LaVonne DuBois, Hermiston, Ore.; daughter Holly Ramsdell, Illinois; sons Jerry G. Foley Jr. (Laura), Jeffrey D. Foley (Robin), and Christopher J. Foley, all of Hermiston, Ore.; 14 grand- children; four great-grand- children; and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bob DuBois, and son Darrell A. Foley. He retired from this position in September 1977 when his wife Betty died of cancer. After a consulting contract with the United Nations, he returned to Oregon in 1979 and settled in Dallas. In 1980 he married Veryl Bratager, a young Albany widow orig- inally from Madison, S.D. Chuck and Veryl moved to the Dallas Retirement Village in 2011. Veryl passed away in 2013 at the age of 89. Chuck has three sons: Da- vid (and Linda), a consulting geologist of Reno, Nevada; Michael (and Jackie), a re- tired United Airlines pilot of Clearville, Pa.; and Rich- ard (and Lin), a retired high school teacher and admin- istrator of Cape May, N.J. Chuck has a stepdaughter, Alison Warmann and fami- O\RI7KRXVDQG2DNV&DOLI and stepsons Brian Bratager and family of Seattle and Mack Bratager, also of Seat- tle.
