For Public/Legal Notices: public/legal notices deadline is Monday at 5 p.m. Dates for pub-
lication must be speciied. Afidavits must be required at the time of submission. Afidavits
require three weeks to process after last date of publication (a sooner return date must be
speciied if required).
For Obituaries: Obituaries are published in the Heppner GT at no charge and are edited to
meet news guidelines. Families wishing to include information not included in the guidelines
or who wish to have the obituary written in a certain way must purchase advertising space
for the obituary.
For Letters to the Editor: Letters to the Editor MUST be signed by the author. The Heppner
GT will not publish unsigned letters. All letters MUST include the author’s address and phone
number for use by the GT ofice. The GT reserves the right to edit letters. The GT is not
responsible for accuracy of statements made in letters. Any letters expressing thanks will
be placed in the classiieds under “Card of Thanks” at a cost of $10.
Neighborhood
Center bag sale July 6
The Neighborhood Center will hold its monthly $10
bag sale on Wednesday, July 6. Bag sale includes all
clothing and shoes. All other merchandise is 50 percent
off. Please donate any paper and plastic bags you don’t
need for the food pantry. The Neighborhood Center is
open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The food pantry closes at 4 p.m. Located at 441 N. Main
Street, Heppner.
Catholic men to meet
The men of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Heppner
and St. William’s Catholic Church of Ione will hold their
irst Friday of the month meeting on Friday, July 1, at the
parish ofice in Heppner. The meeting will start at 6:45
a.m. and will be followed by irst Friday Mass at 7:30 a.m.
HHS Class of ’58
plans get-together
The Heppner High School Class of 1958 will have
a luncheon on Friday, July 15, at 11:30 a.m. at Sweet
Productions, 233 North Main, Heppner.
Classmates as well as acquaintances and friends are
encouraged to attend; those planning on attending are
asked to RSVP to Judie Laughlin, 541-676-9781. Anyone
who has a preference on their lunch should let Jodi at
Sweet Productions know at 541-626-1440.
All attendees are asked to bring photos, especially of
their families and activities
EOU announces
spring dean’s list
LA GRANDE, OR—Jasmine Dixon and Jaqueline
Juarez of Ione were among the 515 students named to the
Eastern Oregon University dean’s list for the 2016 spring
term, the university has announced. Qualifying students
achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or
higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12
hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.

WCCC ladies host
nine-hole invitational
The Willow Creek
Country Club ladies held
their Nine-Hole Invita-
tional on June 21. Forty-one
women, representing six
clubs from Walla Walla, La
Grande and the Tri Cities,
were guests of the WCCC
Ladies Club.
The champions over-
all were Nancy Propheter
(WCCC) low gross of the
field and Corol Mitchell
(WCCC) low net of the
ield.
Awards also were given
to each club. Local win-
ners from WCCC were Pat
Edmundson with low gross
and Betty Burns and Pat
Dougherty, who tied for
low net.
Local special play
awards went to Nancy
Propheter for long drive
and long putt and Betty
Burns for KP second shot.
Corol Mitchell had a birdie
on hole #3.
Breakfast and lunch
were served to guests and
members, with rafles, door
prizes and gifts awarded.
Young golfers place in
regional event
Last week nine local
junior golfers competed in
the PGA Central Washing-
ton Chapter tournament,
which was held at Pend-
leton Country Club. Golf-
ers who participated were
Landon Mitchell, Kellen
Grant, Hunter Greenup,
Logan Grieb, Jake Lindsay,
Dan Bretsch, Cason Mitch-
ell, Nicole Propheter and
Claire Grieb.
Kellen Grant shot an
86 to win the boys’ 13-14
year old division. Logan
Grieb ired a 76 on the day
to finish in first place in
the 15-17 age group. Jake
Lindsay and Dan Bretsch
tied for second place in that
division.
On the girls’ side of
things, Nicole Propheter
took irst place in the 13-14
age group and Claire Grieb
inished second in the 15-17
age group.
Most of the other golf-
ers in the tournament were
from Hermiston and the
Tri-Cities area. The next
CWCPGA event will be
held at the Moses Lake
Country Club.

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Bailey—Elizabeth M. “Betty”
Bailey, 79, of Heppner died Friday, June 24, 2016 at
Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. She was born
June 16, 1937 at Reedsburg, WI. A memorial service
will be held July 9 at 11 a.m. at the Heppner Nazarene
Church. A complete obituary will follow in next week’s
Heppner Gazette-Times. Sweeney Mortuary of Heppner
is in charge of arrangements.
Disque to address
grief support group
The local grief support group will meet at noon on
Thursday, July 7, at Sweet Productions in Heppner. The
speaker for July meeting will be Robanai Disque.
Disque has been in the medical ield since 1976 and
has dealt with a wide variety of situations, as well as hav-
ing many experiences as a young person that prepared her
for her profession. She is a registered nurse and previous
director of home health and hospice, and will be able to
answer many questions for the group.
