Two new bouses are under construe* tion at the presenttime, one being for Clarence Maya and the other for H. N. Goode. The Donald Nursery Co., now has a large force of men employed. The fine weather we are haying seems very generous in distributing colds. Donald will soon hare fine streets as a ditch for tiling is being excavated the entire length of the business and resi dent districts. The women are talking t»f agitating for a board walk wide enough to foil their go-carts on. J. C. Johnston has put in a line of confectionery in connection with the postoffice, and the outlook is very prom ising for him. It will go under the name of the Donald Confectionery and will be open all day Sundays. The Donald Nursery Co. has a crew of 25 men busily engaged in grafting and planting ©Ut seedlings, and have a payroll of over $300 per week. The present time ii the rush season with them, but there will be work for sever al hands all summer* Their plant con sists of 33 acres at present and they have a full line of fruit trees, and three «acres devoted to roses and different kinds of ornamental trees and shrubs. The Ladies Aid society of the church will give a social on Saturday evening, March 25, in the church* Aprons will be on sale and refreshments will be served. A musical program will also be rendered and a good time is assured all who , attend. Dolf Crissel, of Portland, was teen on our streets Sunday. A school meeting was held at the Feller schoolhouse last Saturday for the purpose of voting oni A new schoolhouse for Donald. Donald won by a majority of three. HUBBARD NEWS. Mr. and Mrs. F.. W. Fry ere moving their house to the.back end of the block to make ioom for the new dwelling they will build soon. A number came from Canby in auto mobiles last Friday night to take in the musical entertainment given by tee Hubbard Orchestra and Baud. Mrs. H. A. Hinkle and daughter, of Portland, are visiting friends and rela tives in Hubbard this week. It wilt not be long until Decoration Day, so don’t forget to do a little work on thosejots soon. M, S. Schrock and M. E. Clawson are out with their Gasoline Spraying Ma chine spraying trees around town. The baseball team donned their new uniforms last Sunday and had their pictures taken. The Oddfellows are having their building remodeled, working it over into an uptodate store buildsng. It is reported..that a large general store will go in as soon as completed. Miss Bella Cotdron, of Portland, is visiting friends in Hubbard this week. Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Daniels lost their infant child/ 3 weeks old. The burial wsB at the Hubbard cemetery Tuesday. Mr Vesen purchased an automobile of Henry Scholl last Monday, Mrs. A. F. Knight, of Portland, vis ited Mr. and Mrs. G. W, Knight last Friday and Saturday. Mr. and, Mrs. C. H. Ttullinger visited Portland Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Knight visited Mr. and Mrs. A. F. The musical and vocal entertainment j given in the Armory hall last Friday i evening by the Hubbard Orchestra and | Band was well attended, there being ! nealy 250 people present. The | band rendered two marches in good | style considering the time they have | been together and the fact that' they j have 36 pieces in the band. The or- | chestra rendered several fine selections while the vocal offering were excep- {tionally pleasing.
