Mrs. tj. W. 'Matthews on Saturday
had a dinugreftable experience with a
rattlesnake at the Matthews home
stead on the head of butcher creek
Hlie went to where the horse were
crazing and while petting one of'the
animals she. felt something strike
against her leg and looking down
saw a 2 foot rattler clinging; te
her heavy khaki aklrt. Mrs. Mai
thews secured a club and dispatched
the reptile, which had five rattles
and a button. The very unusual part
of the Incident la that the rattler did
not hnzt, striking without warning,
and Mrs. .Matthews believes she owes
her life to the heavy nkirt'she was
wearing. Only one other season.
