with friends in Wells last Sunday.
Marshal Suver was here Friday on
business.
Al Erickson and family are visiting
with her parents. '
Mrs. Lena James visited with her sis
ter, Mra. Fuqua, Thursday and Friday.
v. P. Reynolds is building a new
honse on his place and has bought
some new furniture. It looks as if he
expected a new housekeeper, but it's
ail right. He has an elegant place and
with a housekeeper and the West Side
Enterprise, he would be fixed tor enjoy
ing life.
On Wednesday evening, January 13th,
the pleasant home of Mr. and Mrs.
Johnnie Carter was the scene of a birth
day party in honor of their daughter,
Mattie Carter. There were singing and
playing of games and a most delicious
repast was. served at a late hour. The
guests departed wishing their host many
happy returns. Those enjoying this
pleasant occasion were : Mr. and Mrs.
Johnnie Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Eston
Carter, Misses Allio Dodle, Mabel and
Fr,, Williamson. Ethel Stelmaker,

E. Van Pelt and family started Mon
day tor their future home in Idaho.
The attendadce at the school has so
far increased that the board Is planning
to employ the fourth teacher the first of
next month.
The Coast Range Lumber Company
has sent its horses to Cathlamet and en
gaged W. W. Ward to do the company's
team work.
J. J. Montgomery is bock from Al
bany. Special meetings are being held at the
F. M. and Christian churches. At the
latter J. B. Lister, of Eugene, is preach
ing and the interest and attendance is
good.
Isaac Hughes, whose accidental shoot
ing was noted in last week's paper, died
Friday nighc and was buried here Sun
day. It was a sudden and severe shock
to the family and our whole community
extends sympathy to them in their af
fliction. Nearly Forfeits His Life.
