Dec. 1 - 3 Monmouth Garden Club Greens Sale. Annual Holiday Greens Sale
of the Monmouth Garden Club. Fresh, made on site wreaths, table arrangements
and decorated holiday mugs will be available. New items are put out hourly each day
of the sale. Proceeds help with community beautification projects. Central Baptist Church,

Dec 2 & 3 Light Up the Night: 49th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting. It’s that time of
year again when the weather is colder, the air is brisker and the commercials start to ad-
vertise gifts. It’s the holiday season which means it’s time to light the Giant Sequoia Tree
on the Western Oregon University (WOU) campus! This is the 49th year the tree will be lit
and this year’s theme is “Light up the Night.” Come to campus to watch the parade, hear
the laughter and songs of children, build community and watch the tree light up in splen-
dor. The WOU Alumni Association Board of Directors will hand out complimentary hot
cocoa and hot cider under the Alumni tents. Be sure to come say hello and grab a cup to
warm your hands! Activities for the whole family will take place after the tree lighting and
will include pictures with Santa, cookie decorating, crafts and more!
There will be two days of fun and interactive activities as follows:
Friday, December 2nd: 6 p.m. Holiday Parade, 7 p.m inside the Werner University Cen-
ter. Local school choir concert, pictures with Santa, holiday cookie bake-off, tree decorat-
ing contest, arts and crafts, and Toys for Tots donations.
7:30 p.m. in the Rice Auditorium, Chamber Singers and Concert Choir.
Ticket prices: $3 general, $1 student and senior citizens, WOU students free with ID
Saturday, December 3: 7 p.m. inside the Werner University Center, Holiday Bingo
$1 for general admission, free for students living on campus

Dec. 1-3 & Dec 7-10 Irvin Berlin's "White Christmas" Song & Dance Perform-
ance by CHS students. Irving Berlin's White Christmas tells the story of a song-and-
dance team putting on a show in a magical Vermont Inn and falling for a stunning sister
act in the process. Enjoy a fun event as the Central High School performers dance and
sing to some of the greatest songs ever written!
Come to a special Dinner & Show on December 3rd at 5:30 pm. For more information
and to order tickets for the performance. Showtime at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
Adults: $8.00, Students (High School & under): $5:00.
Dec. 3 2016 Parade of Lights in Independence. Fun begins at 1 pm. After enjoying
Santa arriving from the North on the Santa Express from 1:00pm - 3:00pm, find a com-
fortable place to watch the Parade starting at 5:00pm. The parade starts at the Baptist
Church parking lot across from Central High School, heads down Monmouth Street, then
through beautiful, brightly decorated downtown Independence. An Open House reception
follows immediately after the parade in downtown Independence at Sojourn Beauty, 240
Main Street, with plenty of hot cider, hot cocoa, coffee and cookies. We'll also sing a few
Christmas melodies to round out the celebration..
Dec. 4 1st Annual Member Celebration. Join us for an afternoon of food, drinks, and
fellowship as we say thank you to our members for your support of the MI Chamber of
Commerce & Visitors Center and of our community. 2 PM to 4 PM. Crush Wine Bar, 105
Main Street E. Monmouth. Enjoy refreshments and one complimentary beverage pro-
vided by the MI Chamber Board of Directors.
Dec. 7 Fall PEP Talks: Connections that Count. The PEP Talks Series, Promote En-
terprising Performance, is designed to provide information, tips, best practices, and re-
sources on various topics to help strengthen businesses and organizations in our
community. The 2016 Fall Series “Connections that Count…Business, Community, and
You” includes three different workshops, one per month October through December. MI
Chamber members and non-members are invited to attend any or all of the series led by
local leaders in their respective fields of expertise. Each workshop will be held from 12:00
PM to 1:30 PM and include lunch for participants. Cost per workshop is $20 or a reduced
fee of $15 for MI Chamber members. • Unforgettable You: 4 Simple Ways to Connect and
