MVCA hosts giant
yard sale Saturday

Also, the school is gearing
up for its annual “Giant Yard
Sale” on Saturday at the

The event will include face
painting, balloons, Kettle
Corn from Poppe Shoppe
and other vendors with deli-
cious treats.

Open house at FCR
in Independence
FCR, a provider of out-
sourced live agent call cen-
ter and business solutions,
will host a grand opening at
3 p.m. on Tuesday at the
center, 1399 Monmouth St.,
Independence.
The event will include an
open house and ribbon cut-
ting. FCR plans to hire 100
more positions by the end
of 2015, with expectations
to bring in at least 300 new
jobs to the area.

DHS Class of 1965
holds 50th reunion
Dallas High School Class
of 1965 will celebrate its
50th reunion with a gather-
ing on Sept. 26 for class-
mates and spouse or guest.
The event will be held at
Pressed Coffee & Wine Bar
in Dallas, at the corner of
Main and Mill streets.
A get-reacquainted gath-
ering begins at 5:30 p.m.
with a no-host bar. Dinner is
at 7 p.m. and features a buf-
fet that includes choice of
salmon or tri-tip, potatoes,
salad, bread and cheese-
cake. The cost for dinner is
$40 per person with reserva-
tion payment due by Sept.

Buell Fall Market
is this weekend
The Buell Grange will
host its second annual fall
market supporting the
Grand Sheramina Food
Bank and Buell Grange
from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fri-
day and from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. on Saturday.
The market includes a
raffle, local produce and a
garage sale. The kitchen will
be open for lunch and
snacks.

Competition for
brewers is Saturday
Area homebrewers are
invited to contribute their
finest brews to the Inde-
pendence Hops & Heritage
Festival homebrew contest
on Saturday in Riverview
Park, Independence.
The event is one of sever-
al highlights of the festival.
Homebrewers may enter
beers in two categories: hop
proud and session beers.
Prizes will be awarded in
both categories, with grand
prizes going to the brewer
with the highest number of
points.
Hop proud beers are gen-
erally those that feature
hops as a dominant charac-
teristic. Any style using aro-
matic or bittering hops, or a
balance of both, can be
used.
Session beers are gener-
ally lower-alcohol beers
that can quench your thirst
on a hot, dry day. For the
purpose of this contest,
these beers should be 5 per-
cent alcohol by volume or
lower.
Prizes include subscrip-
tions to the Oregon Beer
Growler, empty growlers
and T-shirts.

Annual doll show
slated for Saturday
The Wagon Wheel Doller
doll show is Saturday from

Early birds may enter at 9
a.m. for $6 admission. Gen-

bles will feature dolls of all
kinds, doll related items,
bears and miniatures.

The Friends of the Inde-
pendence Public Library
will hold a book sale from

food for WVFAP
Jennings Masonic Lodge
in Dallas is collecting food

sistance Program.

doughnuts will be available

DAC hosts dinner
and concert
Dallas Alliance Church
will host a fundraising din-
ner and free bluegrass con-
cert at the field near the
church, 775 E. Ellendale
Ave. Dallas.
The dinner starts at 5
p.m. on Saturday and is a
fundraiser for the church’s
youth group. Tickets are
available at the church’s of-
fice. “Bluegrass Concert in
the Field,” begins at 6:30
p.m., and people are en-
couraged to bring blankets
or lawn chairs.
Cost is $10 per person;
$25 for a family of four; $6
for kids 13 and younger.
