ANDERSON For First-class Beginning at the Champion nnd taking in a scope of country north by east one will come in contact with some of the best mines in the great Bohemia district. First is the Champicn or Hartford Co., owning a group of 13 clnimstind showing a large amount of as fine free milling ore as is to be found anywhere. There is a large amount of develop ment work of a substantial nature done in this group, it being worked by a succession of tunnels in all about 1500 feet and showing a large amount of ore blocked out and ready for milling. This property is eqyiiped with a first class 10 stamp mill, concentrator and steam power. The ore is conveyed from the mines by a bucket tramway 3400 feet in length and many other modern equipments for the successful operation of a first class mine, there being plenty of" timber and water for years to come, and may be termed one of our permanent Bonanzas. This mine has been in sucessful operation for a lumber of years and shows 110 sign of giving out as depth is attained, as all show a good strong ledge of from 3 to 5 feet in width with good walls and almost perpendicular. The ore is free from both walls and the deeper down they go the higher grade the ore, changingTrotn a free milling to a high grade base, showing copper in abundance freely sprinkled with . galena, and assays I frequently show a goodly per cent of platina ' or platinum. This properly is owned by a Chicago company and represented here by Su perintendent Woodruff. Next in prominence and adjoining the Champion comes the Broad way owned by Grfflith & Reed. Here is a well developed group show ing strong, well defined leads of true fissure veins. This group has about 500 feet of tunnels and upraises all in from 2 to 6 feet of ore of a high grade free milling character carrying a goodly percentage of sul phureti or iron pyrites of excellent concentrating quality. Messrs Rted & Griffith' have recently given a bond on this property to Denver capitalists for $25,000. This group being finely situated on Grouse mountain is destined to become one 01 tne great producers 01 tne camp. The lower tu inel will tap the ledge at a depth of 1,000 feet affording drainage for ytars to come, thereby doing away with expensive pump ing uiacl'.i ic ry an 1 is cqnipbed with houses ani snow slieds, blacksmith shops and everything pertaining to make a first class property and only awaits capital to put in the proper plant to reduce her thousi nds of tons of cr2to make 1 er a rccoid. Messrs. Reed& Griffith deserve great praise for their untiring energy in developing such a property. We are informed the new company, if they take hold of this group, will immediately put in a proper plant, and as the mine is developed with some 500 feet of tunnels there is 10 reason why the new company should not make a success and as thejucky owners also own other property the camp will not lose them. About 800 feet up the mountain is situated the Knott group a fine group of claims that figured prominently in camp some 15 years ago, but owing totnecteaiu ot tne original owner tne property ien toheii who procured a pate;it. The mill was sold to a new company, and operations suspended on the Knott; but some of the finest specimens of free gold are taken from this mine to be found anywhere. Owing to , the condition this mine is in and the high price the owners- place on it, in all likMhood this valuable property may lay idle for years to come, but with the completion of the Grouse mountain tunnel new activity will be revived and it is hoped it will again become an active factor in our great camp.
