Coincident with another sharp break In
wheat yesterday there wait a big drop In

been a gradual slipping away In the price
of flour during the last week, until yes
terday the quotations were from II to
$1.25 below the hlghent price which was
touched on the great boom In wheat en

weakness there wa little demand for
flour, and a majority of the dealers re

DEWEY AND THE PRINCE.
Chicago, June 2 Churle N. Post, vice
president of ihe Lyon & Ilealy Company,
who has Just returned from a tour of the
Orient, met Admiral Dewey In Hong Kong
March Z'i. Mr. Post tells of a social pass
axe at arms between Dewey anil Prince
Henry, a brother of Emperor William,
commanding tho German squadron at
Hong Kong. Prince Henry, Immediately
iifu-r his arrival at Hong Kong, gave a
banquet to the high officer of the other
Heels, ,-i rnoriK whom was Rear Admiral
Dewey. At the feaHt the prince proposed
a toast to his own country, then to Great
Britain, then to all the great powers, ex
cept Ihe United .Slates. Finally, Just be
fore the dinner was over, the royal host
proposed a toast to this country. When
Hear Admlr.il Dewey saw that apparently
his country waa to be slighted, he left
the banquet without ceremony. The next
day a representative of Prince Henry sent
a roundabout apology to the American
commander. Dewey sent back word to tho
emperor's brother that he would accept
nothing but u written or personal apology
from the prince. The lattor then, called
upon Dewey and tipollglzed, saying that
In the confusion of the dinner he (the
prince) thoughtlessly neglected to put
the American toast In its proper place on
the i.rotrrfimme.
While Mr. Post was at Hong Kong
Prince Henry gave a ball, but Admiral
Dewey, though Invited, did not attend.
The affair wa not allowed to get out
and Mr. Post received It first hand from
one of the officers of the American fleet.
