Coii,'i medicines, A.eiN Chen Pec
toral is in greater demand than ever
No preparation for Throat and Lung
Troubles is so piompt in its effects, sc
agreeable to the taste, and so widel
known, as this. It is the family modi
cine in thousands of households.
"I liave uttered for years from o
bronchial trouble that, henever I take
cold or am exposed to inclement eath
er, shows itself by a very annoying
tickling'sensatibn in the throat and by
difficulty in breathing. I have tried a
great many lemedies, but none does so
well as Aycr'.s Cherry Pectoral which
always gives prompt relief in returns ol
my old complaint." Ernest A. Hepler,
Inspector of Public Roads, Parish Ter
re Bonne, La.
" I consider Ayer's Cherry Pectoial a
most important remedy
For Home Use.
I have tested it3 curative power, in my
family, many times during the past
thirty years, and have never known it
to fail. It will relievo the most serious
affections of the throat and lungs,
whether in children or adults." Mrs.
E. G. Edgerly, Council Blufls, Iowa.
"Twenty years ago I was troubled
with, a disease of the lungs. Doctors
afforded ine no relief and considered
ray case hopeless. I then began to ue
Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, and, before I
had finished one bottle, found relief. I
continued to take this medicine until a
cure was effected. I believe that Ayer's
Cherry Pectoral saved my life."
Samuel Griggs, "Waukegan, 111.
" Sis years ago I contracted a severe
sold, which, settled on my lungs and
soon developed all the alarming symp
toms of Consumption. I had a cough,
night sweats, bleeding of the lungs,
pains in chest and sides, and was so
prostrated as to be confined to my
bed most of the time. After trying
various prescriptions, without benefit,
my physician finally determined to give
me Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. I took it,
and the effect was magical. I seemed
to rally Irom tho first dose of this
medicine, and, after using only three
bottles, am as well and sound as ever."
Eodney Johnson, Springfield, 111.

Loxbon', Dec. 3 The St. James
Gazette states that Parnell disap
peared several weeks ago, nnd since
then has not been beard from. His
whereabouts i3 a mystery, und his
nrnlnnrpd absence causes much trou
ble to his adherents. The Gazette
says that though it has been Par
neJPs custom to occasionally seclude
himself, the period of retirement has
been longer this time than usual.
He has failed to keep a number of
important engagements, among which
is one to meet Gladstone.

Keep3 the Men Out Late.
The saloou men on the outside
that is, out of tho heart of the city -'
are now playing a fine game to catch
trade. It is a common thing down i
town to see signs stuck up aunonnc-'
ing free lunches from 11 o'clock to .
2, and the lunches have proved very
successful, for men in a huuy of I
business are glad of a chance to run
m somewnere anct grao a sauuwicn
bike a beer and go on with their work.
It makes a quick economical meal
for them. Now, the outside saloou
keepers nro adopting the same tactics
to catch trade m tho evening Men
who like a "nip'" now and then ".ill
leavo a car to tke one as i.n appetizer j
for their evening meal, aud of late
they take j articular notice of a sid
tabic covered with a neat white cloth
and on a platter a pile of dainty sand
wiches. The man will take his drink,
and feeling a little "peckish" will cM
a sandwich. The chances are that
by tho time this has been done a
friend has dropped in, even if one or
two were not already there, litis
gives a chance for a little talk and
another sandwich. Of course a
drink together must follow, and with
two drinks aud two sandwiches the
keen desire to reach home nnd take
supper witli th- family has departed.
The result in nine cases out of ten is
that tho man doc not reach ho:jw
until bedtime, if he does then. The
saloonkeeper's 3 o'clock lunch on the
main thoroughfares from the city are
a great succes for the man who sells
