A doctor prescribing for a baby, was sadly vexed by the officiousnesa of the child's feminine relatives, who tried all sorts of home remedies for it, saying in apology : "We thought if they did no good they would do no harm, doctor." At the end of his patience, the doc tor one morning called for a bowl, a spoon and some fresh butter, and -began stirriug the latter round and round with an air of grave impor tance. The ladies gathered about him inquisitively, but he gave them no attention, until at last, curiousity becoming rampant, they cried in cherus: "Oh, doctor, do tell us what you are going to do with the butter?" Here was his chance. Facing them solemnly, he said : "I am going to grease the baby's elbow with it. It may not do any good, but it won't do any harm." SOCIETY aXKKTIXttS. Temple LtOdgo. No. 7AP.AM.
